(Baonghean.vn) - Currently, acacia plantations in Nghe An province are in the harvesting season, and farmers are very excited because the price of acacia wood is increasing after a long period of stagnation.

According to our research, the price of acacia wood in key districts such as Anh Son, Con Cuong, and Tuong Duong has reached 1.1-1.2 million VND/ton. Some districts like Yen Thanh and Do Luong even reached 1.3 million VND/ton, an increase of 300,000-500,000 VND/ton compared to previous years.

Reportedly, the export of wood chips and charcoal from acacia trees is on the rise, so not only local businesses but also many businesses from other provinces are flocking in to purchase them.

The main difficulty for acacia growers in the province is the lack of investment in the transportation system to the raw material areas, making the transportation of acacia very difficult. In many places, they face price manipulation by traders because of the poor road access.

Currently, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development is advising districts to replant acacia trees immediately after harvesting; directing localities to plant acacia trees for raw materials according to the plan, and not to rush after the acacia "craze" to avoid the situation of a bumper harvest but plummeting prices like in previous years.

Struggling with the problem of increasing the value of hybrid acacia

(Baonghean) - Most of the forest land in mountainous districts is used for planting acacia trees to process wood chips for export. However, the economic benefits from acacia trees for the people have been declining in recent years. The problem of improving the efficiency of forest land use by planting other crops with higher economic value remains unresolved.
