(Baonghean.vn) - The Department of Education and Training has finalized the list of candidates with high scores near the top of the list in the 2019 National High School Graduation Examination to award valuable gifts, aiming to support these candidates before the start of the new school year.

Forty-seven students achieved scores close to those of the candidates honored by the Provincial People's Committee for their outstanding achievements in the National High School Graduation Examinations. These students come from particularly difficult circumstances but have made great efforts to excel in their studies and achieved excellent exam results, gaining admission to many prestigious universities nationwide.

Among these, Quynh Luu 1 High School had the highest number of students recommended for support, with 5 students. The highest-scoring student was Do Thi Minh Hang with 27.4 points. Hang's circumstances are very difficult; her mother passed away from cancer, and her father is in very poor health. Minh Hang has now been admitted to Hanoi Medical University. The remaining students had scores close to Hang's.

At the Provincial Boarding High School for Ethnic Minorities, there are three candidates with relatively high scores but difficult circumstances. Among them is a Hmong student, Va Y Pa (from Nhon Mai commune, Tuong Duong district), with 26.5 points (excluding priority points). With this result, Va Y Pa was admitted to the Oriental Studies department, the department with the highest admission score at the Hanoi University of Social Sciences and Humanities (28.5 points). However, according to the school's leadership, after enrollment, due to the high tuition fees, Va Y Pa dropped out and transferred to the Elementary Education Department at Vinh University to receive tuition fee reductions.

The list of students receiving support includes many admirable examples of perseverance, such as Nguyen Thi Huyen Trang (Quy Chau High School), who, despite her difficult family circumstances, being an orphan and the eldest of three sisters, still scored 26.25 points on the National High School Graduation Exam. Prior to that, Trang also won first prize in the provincial Geography competition for gifted students.

For example, Nguyen Dinh Sinh, from Dien Chau 3 High School, scored 25.75 points on the entrance exam and became the valedictorian of Hanoi University of Industry. However, this student had previously considered dropping out due to extremely difficult family circumstances (no father, mother working far away). It is known that Hanoi University of Industry has decided to grant Sinh a 100% tuition scholarship for the entire course and will provide free dormitory accommodation for all four years. Furthermore, they have arranged a part-time job at the school canteen for Sinh to earn extra income each month. Previously, after completing the National High School Graduation Exam, Sinh worked part-time in Bac Ninh to earn extra income and cover his living expenses.

In particular, there is the case of Nguyen Huu Sang (Nam Yen Thanh High School), who, despite being from a poor family and having a disability, still scored 26.25 points on the National High School Graduation Examination. This candidate was admitted to Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology but was unable to enroll due to financial constraints. Currently, he is enrolled at Phenikaa University after receiving tuition fee support from the university.

According to the plan of the Department of Education and Training, all these candidates will receive support from organizations and businesses through the National Award Ceremony for High-Achieving Students in the 2019 National High School Graduation Examination. The gifts will be sent to the students after the program ends, and their value will depend on the amount of money donated by philanthropists and organizations/businesses.

Reportedly, the total amount of financial support provided to candidates so far is approximately 100 million VND.
