(Baonghean.vn) -On the afternoon of April 22nd, under the chairmanship of Comrade Nguyen Xuan Duong - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, the Provincial People's Committee held its regular monthly meeting for April 2016 to hear and give opinions on the project for developing transportation infrastructure and forming a transportation network connecting key areas of the province in the period 2016 - 2020.Also attending were members of the committee and leaders of various departments and agencies.

Comrade Nguyen Xuan Duong, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, presided over the meeting.

At the meeting, the Provincial People's Committee Office reported on the results of implementing the conclusions of the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee at the regular meeting of the Provincial People's Committee in March, including 10 key tasks.

Delegates attending the meeting listened to and commented on the socio-economic situation in April and the tasks and solutions for May 2016, as reported by the leaders of the Department of Planning and Investment. The industrial production index in April decreased by 6% compared to March, due to the sugar crushing season ending a month earlier. Cumulative merchandise exports for the first four months are estimated at over 133 million USD, an increase of 5.78% compared to the same period last year. Budget revenue for the first four months is estimated at nearly 3,060 billion VND, reaching 29.8% of the projected target.

Also at the meeting, the Department of Transport presented a plan for developing a complete transportation infrastructure, forming a transportation network connecting key areas of the province, for the period 2016-2020. The plan emphasized the urgent need to build and develop transportation infrastructure connecting the three key economic regions, especially critical infrastructure such as seaports, airports, main arterial roads, and roads connecting economic zones and industrial parks. The total estimated cost for this phase is over 41,000 billion VND.

Concluding this discussion, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Xuan Duong highly appreciated the preparatory work of the Department of Transport in developing the project proposal. He also assigned responsibility to the project development unit to selectively incorporate feedback to finalize the proposal before submitting it to the Provincial Party Standing Committee.

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee noted that the Department of Transport must pay attention to projects that are driving forces, connecting economic zones, industrial parks, and industrial clusters. The Department should continue to review the project list to select and implement projects on schedule. For projects outside the three key areas, they should be included in other programs and schemes for completion; and focus on solutions to mobilize capital for these projects.
