In 2017, the province has granted new (approved investment policy/issued investment registration certificates) to 158 projects with a total registered investment capital of 14,926 billion VND. 14 projects were adjusted with an increased adjusted capital of more than 303 billion VND. The total newly granted and adjusted capital is 15,229 billion VND. The registered investment capital/01 project is 96.38 billion VND.
The investment attraction sector in Nghe An has shifted towards increasing the proportion in the service sector, with 98 projects, total registered capital of 3,720.12 billion VND, accounting for 62.02% in terms of number of projects and 24.43% in terms of total investment capital.

In addition, the industrial production sector has 43 projects/VND9,012.19 billion (accounting for 27.22% in terms of number of projects and 63.95% in terms of total investment capital); The socialized sector also attracted 10 projects/VND641.18 billion.

Most of the licensed projects are currently carrying out investment procedures. Some projects that attracted investment in previous years have progressed quite quickly, such as Song Lam Cement Project, Masan Pig Farm, Vinpearl Cua Hoi, projects of Mavin Group, Hoa Sen, etc.
However, according to the assessment, this year the number of projects attracted increased by 35 projects compared to the same period in 2016, however the registered investment capital decreased by more than half. The number of large-scale, breakthrough projects in 2017 was not much, mainly small-scale projects, concentrated in some fields such as mining, mineral processing, construction materials...
