Nghe An Province to cooperate comprehensively with Vietnam Airlines Corporation from 2026 to 2030.
On the morning of May 21st, the People's Committee of Nghe An province and Vietnam Airlines Corporation held a signing ceremony for a comprehensive cooperation agreement for the period 2026-2030. Attending the ceremony was Mr. Thai Van Thanh, Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.
During the period 2021-2025, the cooperation between Nghe An province and Vietnam Airlines yielded tangible results, contributing to spreading the image of the land and people of Nghe An to international friends. Through in-flight entertainment systems and Heritage Magazine, the Nghe An tourism brand reached millions of visitors each year.
In addition to communication efforts, the flight network to and from Vinh International Airport has been significantly expanded. Besides the main routes to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, connecting routes to Cam Ranh, Lien Khuong, Buon Ma Thuot, Phu Quoc, and Can Tho have facilitated trade and regional economic development.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Mr. Thai Van Thanh, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghe An province, shared his heartfelt views on the province's development potential in the new context. The Vice Chairman emphasized that Nghe An is facing breakthrough opportunities with the implementation of key infrastructure projects such as the Cua Lo deep-water port and the Vinh - Thanh Thuy expressway connecting to Laos and Northeast Thailand..
With new development potential in terms of administrative boundaries and large FDI projects, Nghe An province hopes that Vietnam Airlines will work with Nghe An to build a tourism brand that reaches international standards; and soon have direct flights from Vinh to South Korea, Japan, and China to serve the needs of investors and people.
Sharing the same view on market potential, Mr. Nguyen Quang Trung, Deputy General Director of Vietnam Airlines, said that Nghe An has always been one of the localities where the airline has the best competitive advantage thanks to the trust and support of the local government and people.
During the period 2026-2030, Nghe An province and Vietnam Airlines Corporation have agreed to strengthen cooperation in five key areas: trade, culture, sports, tourism, and aviation.
One notable development is the plan to feature OCOP (One Commune One Product) products from Nghe An on its flights. Vietnam Airlines will explore incorporating typical local specialties into its meal menus, Lotus Lounge offerings, and gift catalog. This is considered a crucial solution for subtly and effectively promoting Nghe An's specialties to international tourists.
In addition, the agreement also clearly stipulates preferential policies on ticket prices and transportation fees for provincial delegations, travel agencies that build package tours to Nghe An, as well as support for goods transportation for local cooperatives.
To overcome the limitations of tourism seasonality, both sides committed to coordinating Famtrip and Presstrip tours for journalists and international travel agencies to survey Nghe An, and to maintaining annual evaluation reports to adjust action plans to better reflect reality.
With the infrastructure upgrade at Vinh International Airport allowing it to accommodate wide-body aircraft, this comprehensive cooperation is expected to create new momentum, helping Nghe An's socio-economic development take off more strongly in the coming time.
