Nghe An province begins construction on a multi-billion dollar industrial park project.

On the afternoon of March 10th, in Nghi Thuan commune, Nghi Loc district, the People's Committee of Nghe An province, in coordination with WHA Hemaraj Nghe An Joint Stock Company, held the groundbreaking ceremony for the WHA Hemaraj Nghe An Industrial Park Project.

Attending the ceremony were Comrade Vuong Dinh Hue - Member of the Political Bureau, Deputy Prime Minister; and representatives of current and former leaders of central ministries, departments, and agencies.

Among the international guests was Mr. Manopchai Vongphakdi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Thailand to Vietnam.

Representing the investors was Mr. David R. Nardone, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors, WHA Corporation Public Company Limited.

Representing Nghe An province were: Mr. Nguyen Xuan Son - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Mr. Nguyen Xuan Duong - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; members of the Provincial Party Standing Committee; Vice Chairmen of the Provincial People's Committee; leaders of provincial departments, agencies, and localities within the province.

Hemaraj is a leading Thai corporation specializing in the development of industrial park infrastructure, urban areas, factories, utilities, and power generation. With a strategy of shifting investment capital overseas, in early 2016, the corporation began exploring and researching the investment environment in Nghe An province. On October 5, 2016, Hemaraj Thailand officially signed an investment agreement for the construction and operation of Hemaraj industrial park and urban infrastructure in the Southeast Economic Zone.

The project has a total investment of approximately 22,000 billion VND, equivalent to 1 billion USD, covering a total area of ​​over 3,200 hectares in Nghi Loc and Dien Chau districts, within the planned Southeast Economic Zone of Nghe An province. Implementation is scheduled to begin in 2017 and be completed in 2030.

Phase 1 of the WHA Hemaraj Nghe An Industrial Park Project received investment approval from the Prime Minister in Decision No. 581/QD-TTg dated May 21, 2017. The project has a total investment of US$92.2 million, covering an area of ​​498 hectares, aiming to build a modern and integrated industrial park infrastructure and provide clean land to attract domestic and foreign secondary investors to conduct investment and business activities.

The Hemaraj Industrial Park, once operational, will create numerous jobs for local and surrounding workers, generate significant annual revenue for the budget, contribute to the shift in economic structure towards increasing the proportion of industrial production, and accelerate the industrialization and modernization process of Nghe An province.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Ngoc Hoa emphasized: In implementing Resolution No. 26-NQ/BCT dated July 30, 2013, of the Politburo on the direction and tasks for the development of Nghe An province until 2020; aiming to build Nghe An into an industrial province and a relatively prosperous province in the region, as President Ho Chi Minh wished during his lifetime, Nghe An province has implemented many specific solutions and focused on decisively directing the implementation of the tasks set forth in Resolution No. 26. These include solutions to promote investment activities to attract and invite investors and large enterprises (domestic and foreign) to invest in strategic and driving projects in Nghe An province.

Through the implementation of these solutions, Nghe An province has attracted and invited large domestic and foreign investors to invest in projects in the province. Particularly noteworthy is the Hemaraj Nghe An Industrial Park Project.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Ngoc Hoa emphasized that this is an important project in attracting investment to the province and a milestone in assessing the success of investment cooperation between Nghe An province and Hemaraj Group in particular and Thai businesses in general.

Along with the success of VSIP Nghe An Industrial, Urban and Service Zone, Hoang Mai Industrial Zone, and Dong Hoi Industrial Zone, the Southeast Nghe An Economic Zone will soon be transformed into a key, multi-sectoral, multi-functional economic zone, as outlined in Resolution No. 26 of the Politburo on the direction and tasks for the development of Nghe An province until 2020.

Vice Chairman of the Nghe An Provincial People's Committee, Le Ngoc Hoa, expressed his hope that in the future, Nghe An province would continue to pay attention to and cooperate closely with the Hemaraj Group to complete the projects according to the signed agreement and continue to research and invest in other large projects, while also promoting and acting as a bridge to introduce other investors from Thailand to research investment in Nghe An.

It was affirmed that, in order to hold the groundbreaking ceremony for the Project, Nghe An province received the attention and guidance of the Government and the Prime Minister, as well as timely support from central ministries and agencies, enabling the Project to complete investment procedures in accordance with regulations.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Ngoc Hoa affirmed: Nghe An province is committed to always standing side-by-side with investors and creating the most favorable conditions in terms of policies and investment environment.

The Provincial People's Committee will direct the Southeast Economic Zone Management Board and relevant functional departments and agencies, along with local authorities, to coordinate support and promptly resolve difficulties, obstacles, requests, and proposals from investors to ensure the timely completion of construction items and the project's optimal operation.

At the same time, Nghe An province also requested the investor to closely coordinate with the Southeast Economic Zone Management Board, local authorities, and relevant departments during the construction process to ensure compliance with State regulations and that the project is completed on schedule and with quality, so as to soon develop Hemaraj Industrial Park into a modern industrial park in Nghe An.
