At exactly 6:00 AM on August 16th, at Ho Chi Minh Square and 127 other communes and wards (excluding the 3 designated central wards of the province), a flag-raising ceremony and singing of the national anthem will be simultaneously held, at the same time as the flag-raising ceremony at the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum (Hanoi). This will create a solemn and sacred atmosphere, promoting patriotism and national pride, and practically celebrating the country's important anniversary.
Following the ceremony, at the main venue, delegates will walk along a route from Ho Chi Minh Square to Truong Thi Street, then turn left; continue to the end of Truong Thi Street to the Lenin Monument roundabout. At the commune level, the Provincial People's Committee requests that communes and wards select locations for the flag-raising ceremony and organize walking events that are appropriate to the local situation.
To make the program more solemn and meaningful, the Provincial People's Committee encourages all citizens to wear red and yellow flag-themed clothing and participate in the flag-raising ceremony and sing the national anthem; at the same time, it requests localities to launch and organize a mass walk from 6:30 AM to 7:30 AM, with the goal of spreading the message "1 billion steps into a new era" - an action symbolizing unity and solidarity towards a green, clean, and sustainable future.
In addition, the Provincial People's Committee proposed organizing diverse and engaging activities to encourage the community to work together to reduce net emissions to "zero" by 2050, such as: learning about and raising awareness of green lifestyles, donating to build funds to support environmental protection and renewable energy development, etc.
On the afternoon of August 11th, the Nhan Dan Newspaper, in coordination with the Ministry of Public Security, held a press conference to announce the nationwide walking event "Together with Vietnam, March Forward" to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025), National Day (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025), and the Traditional Day of the People's Public Security Force (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025).
This is a community activity of unprecedented scale and significance, taking place at a particularly important time when the entire country is entering a new phase of development along with the reorganization of administrative units.
For the first time, a walking event was held simultaneously in 34 provinces and cities, encompassing 3,321 communes, wards, and special administrative regions nationwide.
From July 25th to August 16th, 2025, people nationwide can register online at the official portal: cungvietnamtienbuoc.nhandan.vn and begin recording their steps to contribute to the journey of "1 billion steps into a new era" - a practical activity demonstrating patriotism, reducing carbon emissions, and working towards the nation's Net Zero (zero emissions) goal.
Specifically, from 6:00 to 7:30 AM on August 16, 2025, participants nationwide will don red shirts with yellow stars, turn towards the historic Ba Dinh Square to watch the flag-raising ceremony, sing the national anthem in unison, and march forward for a united, strong, and sustainable Vietnam.
