Nghe An: Control and handle speeding violations immediately, do not 'wait' for late fines
(Baonghean.vn) - After more than 2 months of checking and handling violations of traffic safety and order according to the Plan of the Ministry of Public Security, the Traffic Police force of Nghe An Province has detected and recorded more than 11,000 violations, of which speeding is up to 2,784 cases. This is an alarming fact, because it is identified as one of the causes of serious traffic accidents.
Subjectively, the road was empty, there were no cameras…
According to the working group of Traffic Police Team No. 5, on a late afternoon in August, patrolling and controlling the area near Vinh Airport intersection, from 12-13 o'clock, the force stopped more than 10 vehicles, of which 3 were speeding violations.
Mr. N.D.H, a driver who violated the law, said: Driving on National Highway 46 from Nam Dan to Cua Lo Town, near the airport intersection, when the traffic police signaled to stop, I realized that I had been caught speeding. Honestly, the road was clear, partly because I was subjective, there were few vehicles at noon, so I did not pay attention.speed.

Mr. NNT (residing in Dien Chau district) was discovered speeding across the Quan Banh overpass. After the working group showed him the images and admitted his violation, Mr. T. said: When I was stopped for processing, after the first minute of surprise, I was a bit embarrassed. It was also just "because I was in a hurry", partly because I thought it was noon and the road was empty, and there were no cameras in the area, so I increased the speed limit.
In reality, it is because of these subjective thoughts that many traffic accidents have occurred, many of which are serious. A recent example is the accident that occurred at 4:00 p.m. on September 3 on National Highway 48. At the time mentioned above, a car with license plate 37A-391.70 was traveling on National Highway 48, from Quy Hop to Dien Chau at high speed. When it reached Hung Lap hamlet, Nghia Tien commune, Thai Hoa town, it crashed into a motorbike with license plate 37-G1 648.24 carrying two people traveling in the same direction. The accident killed two people on the motorbike and seriously injured five people in the car.

These are just two of the many speed-related accidents that have occurred recently. According to the authorities, over 90% of traffic accident deaths are related to speeding. However, there are still many vehicles on the roads that exceed the speed limit.
As a person living near the intersection of the 35m road and National Highway 46, Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong said: Not only speeding and recklessly overtaking on straight roads, many vehicles passing through intersections and crossroads without red lights also drive very fast. Therefore, in addition to promoting the system of cameras to fine traffic violations on National Highway 1A, it is necessary to increase the number of traffic police on the remaining routes to handle directly, only then can we adjust the awareness of traffic participants, contributing to reducing accidents.
Strengthen patrols and control, and strictly handle violations.
Currently, according to Decree 100/2019/ND-CP as well as some amendments and supplements in Decree 123/2021/ND-CP, vehicle drivers will be fined from VND 800,000 to VND 12 million (depending on the speed) for cars; and from VND 300,000 to VND 5 million (depending on the speed) for motorbikes.
In addition to administrative fines, speeding vehicle owners may also have their driving licenses revoked for 1-4 months. At the same time, they will be prosecuted for criminal liability if they cause serious traffic accidents. However, in reality, there are still many cases of drivers exceeding the speed limit.
After more than 2 months (from June 20 to August 30, 2022) of checking and handling violations of traffic safety and order according to the Plan of the Ministry of Public Security, the Provincial Traffic Police force has detected and recorded more than 11,000 violations, including 2,784 cases of speeding. It is worth mentioning that while previously speeding drivers mainly concentrated on National Highways, now it occurs on any route, especially at noon and at night, the rate of violations is higher. In particular, the vehicles mainly exceed the prescribed speed from 10 km/h to 20 km/h, in some cases exceeding the prescribed speed by more than 40 km/h...

According to Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Nam Hong - Deputy Head of the Provincial Traffic Police Department: Recently, speeding violations by traffic participants have been common, not only on national highways and inner-city roads but also on rural traffic routes, especially when there is no police force. This not only directly endangers the driver but also endangers other traffic participants. Many serious traffic accidents have occurred because the driver did not control the speed.
To promptly detect, prevent, and handle violations, contributing to curbing traffic accidents, in addition to promoting the system of cameras to fine traffic offenders, the department will continue to direct teams and stations to strengthen patrolling and control, and organize secret recording for handling. For speeding, we will resolutely handle it strictly, not ignoring any cases.

It can be seen that speeding is one of the main causes of serious traffic accidents. The higher the speed, the higher the level of injury. Because driving at high speed will limit the ability to analyze and handle situations that occur on the road. Therefore, in addition to the plan of the Traffic Police, the participation of relevant levels and sectors in supplementing the speed sign system, making speed bumps, painting, repairing road markings, etc., people's awareness of law compliance is still an important and decisive factor.
