(Baonghean.vn) - The Provincial Steering Committee for Transportation during the Lunar New Year 2020 (Year of the Rat) has requested bus stations to prepare plans to ensure sufficient vehicles and personnel to facilitate and ensure the safety of passengers traveling before, during, and after the Lunar New Year 2020.

On the afternoon of January 16th, the Steering Committee for Transportation during the Lunar New Year 2020 (Year of the Rat) conducted inspections at bus stations to assess the operational status of transportation vehicles during the Lunar New Year holiday.

On-site inspections at the North Vinh bus station, the East bus station, and the Central bus station revealed that all stations have posted ticket prices, vehicle numbers, hotlines, and information on inter-provincial and intra-provincial routes.

Bus stations have implemented cleaning and sanitation measures, ensured security and fire prevention; contracted with businesses to be ready to arrange vehicles when passenger traffic increases suddenly; and regularly inspected vehicles and drivers.

The inspection team suggested that bus stations should strengthen checks on vehicles and personnel before departure, preventing drivers from using alcohol or stimulants while operating vehicles, and avoiding situations where drivers are overloaded or working in unhealthy conditions.

Bus stations need to coordinate closely with functional forces such as the Provincial Police, local police, and the Inspectorate of the Department of Transport... to maintain order and security in the bus station area; and ensure sufficient staff are available during peak hours.

Strictly enforce inspection and control of vehicles entering and exiting bus terminals registered for passenger pick-up and drop-off, checking the quality of vehicles, drivers, goods, and luggage according to regulations, and promptly preventing overloaded vehicles, flammable or explosive goods, and prohibited items.

The inspection team also noted that bus stations should base their ticket sales and vehicle allocation and passenger seating arrangements on passenger volume in a reasonable and fair manner.
