Nghe An: Five fishing vessels inspected and fined for violations.
(Baonghean.vn) - Implementing the program to inspect and monitor coastal exploitation activities in accordance with regulations against illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing, from May 18-24, the inter-agency team of Nghe An province patrolled the coastal waters from Dien Chau district to Hoang Mai town.

After 6 days of operation, the team inspected 87 vessels, issued warnings to 7 vessels, and fined 5 vessel owners a total of 40.4 million VND. Specifically, 3 vessel owners received heavy fines of 12.5 million VND each: the fishing vessel TH-A 3128-TS owned by Mr. Nguyen Van Dung, and 2 fish raft owners, Mr. Pham Van Ba and Mr. Mai Hung Cuong, both residing in Hai Ha, Nghi Son (Thanh Hoa), for the act of illegally possessing electric fishing devices.fishing.

Other boat owners fined included Mr. Pham Viet Huy, owner of fishing vessel TH-91175-TS, residing in Hai Chau ward, Nghi Son town, and Mr. Nguyen Quoc Viet, owner of fishing vessel NA-90798-TS, residing in Nam Thinh hamlet, Dien Ngoc commune, Dien Chau district. They were fined 400,000 VND and 2,500,000 VND respectively for not carrying identification documents for crew members and workers on board, and for not correctly registering fishing vessels over 15m in length. In addition to the fines, the inspection team confiscated 3 electric shock devices and 15m of electrical wire.

During the two inspection rounds in late March and April 2022, the inspection team mainly approached fishing vessels to disseminate information and issue reminders. However, recent inspections have shown that violations in fishing operations remain numerous and are becoming increasingly complex, especially in early March when some fishing vessels from other provinces entered the area.coastal waters of Nghe AnWhile engaged in fishing activities, the vessel showed signs of obstructing and resisting law enforcement and the inter-agency inspection team from Nghe An province. The team approached the vessel for inspection and issued a warning.
