(Baonghean.vn) - According to the Nghe An Department of Industry and Trade, the province's total export turnover in the first six months of 2022 is estimated at 1.27 billion USD, an increase of 19.76% compared to the same period last year, reaching 54% of the annual plan.

Many items saw export value growth compared to the same period in 2021, such as: Mobile phone components (estimated at $218.9 million in the first six months, up 75.5% compared to the same period in 2021); Textiles and garments (reaching $215 million, up 25.75%); Wood chips (reaching $122.8 million, up 31%); Footwear (reaching $19 million, more than eight times higher than the same period in 2021); Plastic additive granules (reaching $16.3 million); Wood pellets (reaching $12.4 million, up 634%); Wood chips (reaching $105.5 million, up 27%); Stone (reaching $70 million, up 25%); and Petroleum products (reaching $12 million, a tenfold increase compared to the same period in 2021).

The export market has expanded through diversification and effectively utilized the markets covered by the Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) that Vietnam has signed. Nghe An businesses have exported to approximately 120 countries and territories worldwide, with export values ​​to some key markets including: China (estimated at US$256.3 million), South Korea (US$141.8 million), Hong Kong (US$127.8 million), the United States (US$109.3 million), Switzerland (US$61.6 million), etc. Some new export markets this year include: Sao Tome and Principe, Costa Rica, Equatorial Guinea, Niger, Djibouti, Palau, New Caledonia, Armenia, etc.

According to statistics, 9 businesses achieved export turnover exceeding 20 million USD; 21 businesses achieved turnover of 10 million USD or more. Several prominent businesses regularly participate in export activities and achieve significant turnover (over 30 million USD), specifically: Hoa Sen Group Joint Stock Company, Thanh Thanh Dat Company Limited, Merry&Luxshare Vietnam Company Limited and LUXSHARE - ICT (Nghe An), Minh Anh Do Luong Garment Joint Stock Company, Minh Anh - Kim Lien Garment, Kido Vinh Company Limited, and Em-Tech Vietnam Vinh Company Limited.

Besides the encouraging results achieved, export activities in the first six months of 2022 also faced difficulties and challenges such as: high transportation costs, and continuously rising energy and raw material prices due to the impact of the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
