Nghe An: Swindled over 10 billion VND in money to 'run errands' at hospitals

(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of November 4, Lieutenant Colonel Dang Van Hoat - Deputy Head of the Economic and Position Crime Investigation Police Department said that on November 3, the Nghe An Police Investigation Police initiated criminal case No. 08 on fraud and property appropriation. This is a case of fraud in applying for jobs at hospitals in Nghe An province.

Previously, through understanding the situation, the Department of Investigation Police on Economic and Positional Crimes of Nghe An Police established Project 1016D to fight and clarify the behavior of the fraud ring applying for jobs at hospitals in Nghe An.

On October 26, 2016, the authorities issued an arrest warrant and urgently searched Tran Thi Phuong (born in 1962, residing in Hung Binh, Vinh City) for the act of job fraud. On the same day, Thai Thi Lan (residing in Le Loi, Vinh City) came to the police station to confess.

At the police station, Thai Thi Lan and Tran Thi Phuong admitted that from 2012 to 2016, they received job applications from hundreds of people, each person from 150-300 million VND to apply for jobs at hospitals in Nghe An. The total amount of money collected for "job placement" was up to over 10 billion VND.

After a long period of promising but not getting a job, some of the victims had their money and documents returned by the subjects, but most of them have not been returned to the victims.
