Nghe An: Scammers defraud over 10 billion VND in bribes for securing jobs at hospitals.
(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of November 4th, Lieutenant Colonel Dang Van Hoat - Deputy Head of the Economic and Official Crime Investigation Department - stated that on November 3rd, the Nghe An Provincial Police Investigation Department initiated criminal case No. 08 regarding fraud and appropriation of property. This case involves fraud related to job applications at hospitals in Nghe An province.

Previously, based on intelligence gathered, the Economic and Corruption Crime Investigation Department of the Nghe An Provincial Police established Special Case 1016D to investigate and clarify the activities of a scam ring that defrauded people by promising jobs at hospitals in Nghe An province.
On October 26, 2016, authorities issued an arrest warrant and conducted an urgent search of Tran Thi Phuong (born 1962, residing in Hung Binh, Vinh City) for job placement fraud. On the same day, Thai Thi Lan (residing in Le Loi, Vinh City) surrendered to the police.

At the police station, the two suspects, Thai Thi Lan and Tran Thi Phuong, admitted that from 2012 to 2016, they received job applications from hundreds of people, each paying between 150 and 300 million VND to secure jobs at hospitals in Nghe An province. The total amount collected for "job-securing" reached over 10 billion VND.
After a long period of promises that ultimately failed to secure employment, some victims have had their money and documents returned by the perpetrators, while the majority remain unpaid.

The case is currently under expanded investigation by the authorities, who are gathering more evidence.
