Nghe An province has summoned the 16-year-old couple who are getting married to the commune's People's Committee for questioning.

The photos spread like wildfire. The wedding of the young bride and groom took place on June 20th, and within less than 24 hours, they were all over social media.

Reportedly, the bride's name is PT, from Nghia Xuan commune, and the groom's name is LT, from Minh Hop commune; both are only 16 years old. The wedding took place in the presence of numerous relatives and guests from both sides. When photos of the wedding were widely shared online, many people expressed surprise and shock.

Facebook user PL expressed surprise: "They must just be taking pictures for fun. How could they be getting married at this age? They haven't even finished high school yet."

Facebook user NTPT expressed concern: “At this age, I was still too busy eating and playing, I didn't know anything about dating. Looking at the guy's face, I thought he was just helping carry the trays, but it turned out he was the groom. Young people these days are too open-minded; if a 16-year-old can't even take care of themselves, how can they take care of a family?”

Besides that, many people also expressed their surprise at the marriage of the two young people who were only 16 years old. Facebook user HA shared: "They're not even of legal marriage age, yet they're having such a lavish wedding. Surely the local authorities wouldn't say nothing?"

Mr. Truong Van Chinh – Chairman of Nghia Xuan commune (Quy Hop district) said: “The wedding of LT and PT (born in 2000) is real. Before that, the commune was completely unaware; the two families organized the wedding themselves. After the information spread online, on the afternoon of June 21st, the commune went to PT's family to verify. The family said that because the two children truly loved each other, they held a wedding ceremony for them. After the wedding, the two children continued attending school as usual. Currently, LT and PT are students at Quy Hop 2 High School (Quy Hop district).”

Regarding this unusual wedding, Ms. Dinh Thi Kim Chau, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Minh Hop commune (Quy Hop district), confirmed that this was a child marriage secretly held on a holiday (Sunday, June 19th), so the local authorities were unaware of it. Immediately after receiving the information, the commune leaders launched an investigation to clarify the matter.

Ms. Chau also stated that this morning (June 22nd), the commune invited those involved to come to the commune's People's Committee office for questioning.
