Previously, although there were no complete figures, according to the education statistics report for the next school year, the number of students in the province continued to increase, especially at the secondary school level.
Specifically, in the 2022-2023 school year, the number of 9th grade students participating in the junior high school graduation exam is 46,647 students and the number of 5th grade students expected to complete the primary school program is 72,728 students. Thus, the total number of junior high school students in the 2023-2024 school year is expected to be about 232,782 students, an increase of about 26,081 students compared to the previous school year. Meanwhile, the number of high school students only increased slightly and the number of primary school students did not increase much compared to previous school years.
The increase in the number of secondary school students this school year was predicted. Because, according to statistics, in the past 5 years, the number of primary school students has increased by about 64,000 students and on average, about 12,000 students per year. However, the number of students increases depending on the year and increases more in the years considered good years. Among the localities with increased student numbers, Vinh city, Quynh Luu, Dien Chau, Yen Thanh are among the localities with the number of students increasing rapidly with over 2,000 students. In Vinh city alone, the number of students at the secondary school level will increase by over 3,600 students.

The rapid increase in students will put considerable pressure on localities, especially in ensuring facilities and arranging teaching staff. With an increase of over 26,000 students, the next school year will see an increase of about 580 classes.
Faced with the forecast of an increase in the number of secondary school students in the 2023-2024 school year in the province, the Department of Education and Training requires all levels, sectors and the whole society to focus on arranging the reasonable size of schools and classrooms. At the same time, promptly invest in additional facilities, equipment and have a plan to prepare the teaching staff in terms of both quantity and quality to arrange enough teachers to teach and implement the 2018 General Education Program and the task of building schools that meet national standards.
