(Baonghean.vn) - This is the forecast of the Department of Education and Training about the number of students will increase in the next school year. This will put pressure on the education sector, especially in terms of facilities and arranging teachers.

Department of Education and Traininghas just issued an official dispatch guiding districts, cities and towns in the province to collect information and develop plans for educational development (on the scale of the school network and classrooms) for the 2023-2024 school year. This will also be the basis for developing local school year plans as well as arranging teaching staff, facilities, etc.

Based on the statistics, the Department will approve the school year plan for localities, in order to prepare conditions for the new school year as well as the enrollment plans of schools.

Previously, although there were no complete figures, according to the educational statistics report for the next school year, the number of students in the province continued to increase, especially at the secondary school level.

Specifically, in the 2022-2023 school year, the number of 9th graders taking the junior high school graduation exam is 46,647 and the number of 5th graders expected to complete the primary school program is 72,728. Thus, the total number of junior high school students in the 2023-2024 school year is expected to be about 232,782, an increase of about 26,081 compared to the previous school year. Meanwhile, the number of high school students only increased slightly and the number of primary school students did not increase much compared to previous school years.

The increase in the number of junior high school students this school year was predicted. According to statistics, in the past 5 years, the number of primary school students has increased by about 64,000 students and on average, about 12,000 students per year. However, the number of students increases depending on the year and increases more in years considered good. Among the localities with an increase in the number of students, Vinh city, Quynh Luu, Dien Chau, Yen Thanh are some of the localities with a rapid increase in the number of students with over 2,000 students. In Vinh city alone, the number of students at the junior high school level will increase by over 3,600 students.

The rapid increase in students will put considerable pressure on localities, especially in ensuring facilities and arranging teaching staff. With an increase of over 26,000 students, the next school year will add about 580 more classes.

Faced with the forecast of an increase in the number of secondary school students in the 2023-2024 school year in the province, the Department of Education and Training requires all levels, sectors and the whole society to focus on arranging the reasonable size of schools and classrooms. At the same time, promptly invest in additional facilities, equipment and have a plan to prepare the teaching staff in terms of both quantity and quality to arrange enough teachers to teach and implement the 2018 General Education Program and the task of building schools that meet national standards.
