Tourism recovers after the Covid-19 pandemic.

According to the Steering Committee's report, activities in 2022tourismTourism in the province is gradually recovering and showing positive signs. Nghe An officially reopened its tourism activities and welcomed international visitors from March 15, 2022, after more than two years of disruption due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

In 2022, the province welcomed and served 6,730,000 tourists; tourism revenue reached 5,602 billion VND (achieving 187% of the plan). In the first two months of 2023, the province welcomed and served 1,300,000 tourists, of which 800,000 were overnight visitors. Total revenue from tourism reached 2,653 billion VND, of which tourism revenue was estimated at 1,005 billion VND.

In 2022, the Provincial Steering Committee for Tourism Development focused on directing and implementing the following: Strengthening the dissemination and promotion of Resolution 08-NQ/TW dated January 16, 2017, of the Politburo on developing tourism into a key industry.key economic sectorsand the policies and guidelines on tourism development of the Central Government and the province; programs, projects, and plans for implementing Resolution 08-NQ/TW.

The provincial People's Committee is decisively directing the implementation of tourism development tasks in 2022 according to its plan: This includes the development of planning and implementation of socio-economic development tasks; promoting tourism promotion, marketing, and linkages; strengthening state management; improving the business environment, and supporting businesses.

Despite the achievements, the leadership still faces some limitations, such as slow progress in the implementation of some key tourism projects; a decline in service quality in accommodation establishments; improvements in tourism products, while significant, have not yet created a breakthrough or strong appeal for tourists from other provinces; a continued shortage of human resources; and a slow recovery rate of international tourists.

Create some truly attractive products.

Regarding the direction for 2023, the Steering Committee determined to continue effectively implementing Action Program No. 55-CTr/TU of the Provincial Party Standing Committee to implement Resolution 08-NQ/TW of the Politburo on developing tourism into a key economic sector, in conjunction with the Party's guidelines and resolutions, and the State's policies and laws on tourism.

Coordinate efforts to expedite the progress of key investment projects in tourist areas and destinations; strengthen quality management of these projects.productTourism and services; building a safe, civilized, and friendly tourism environment to enhance the value of tourism products, attract and increase tourist spending. The goal is for the entire province to welcome and serve 7.94 million tourists; tourism service revenue to reach 7.47 trillion VND.

At the meeting, members of the Steering Committee discussed and exchanged opinions on issues such as: organizing festivals in conjunction with tourism development; promoting and linking tourism development; ensuring security and order at tourist areas and destinations; and resources for rural tourism development.

Concluding the meeting, Mr. Bui Dinh Long, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and Head of the Provincial Tourism Development Steering Committee, acknowledged the efforts of the members, departments, and agencies in tourism development. The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the tourism sector and localities to develop truly attractive tourism products; strengthen systematic promotion and advertising of the image; and ensure safety, hygiene, and a clean and beautiful environment to attract tourists. Units and localities should perform their duties well, coordinate with the tourism sector, and contribute to promoting the development of tourism business activities, ensuring that the 2023 tourism season yields even more positive results.
