Nghe An launches Workers' Month 2025

On the morning of April 27th, at the Provincial Labor Culture House, the Provincial Federation of Labor Unions held the launching ceremony for the 2025 Workers' Month.

Attending the event was Comrade Nguyen Xuan Hung - Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor. Representing Nghe An province were: Comrade Vo Thi Minh Sinh - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairwoman of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee, and Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation; Comrade Ngoc Kim Nam - Member of the Standing Committee and Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department; and Comrade Kha Van Tam - Member of the Provincial Party Committee and President of the Provincial Federation of Labor.

Also attending were representatives from the Party Committees of provincial Party agencies, the Party Committee of the Provincial People's Committee; relevant departments, agencies, and units; and more than 1,000 outstanding workers and laborers from across the province.

Since 2012, the Central Party Secretariat has decided to designate May as Workers' Month. In Nghe An, upholding the tradition of "leading the way" of the workers' movement in Truong Thi - Ben Thuy, Workers' Month has become a major festival, affirming the strong bond between workers and trade unions, Party committees, government, and businesses. The emulation movement among workers in Nghe An has spread strongly in recent years, making a significant contribution to the province's socio-economic development.

Taking place amidst the entire political system's urgent focus on implementing a revolution to streamline and reorganize the apparatus; on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), the 139th anniversary of International Labor Day (May 1, 1886 - May 1, 2025), and the 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2025), this year's Workers' Month is even more special and meaningful.

With the theme "Vietnamese workers pioneering the new era",Workers' Month 2025This reaffirms the historical role and immense contributions of the working class in the cause of national liberation, building and defending the Fatherland; at the same time, it emphasizes the responsibility and innovative spirit of the working class in the new era of national development.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Comrade Kha Van Tam - Chairman of the Provincial Labor Union - introduced the outstanding activities that will take place during the 2025 Workers' Month. These include: the "Creative Workers, Confidently Stepping into a New Era" program aimed at promoting and encouraging union members and workers to improve their skills and innovate their industrial work style; the "Creative Labor Festival" with competitions for proposing ideas and technical innovation initiatives; the "Party with Workers - Workers with the Party" forum and the "May Dialogue" to listen to and resolve practical issues of workers; and the "Thank You to Workers" program with many practical activities to show appreciation.

The Chairman of the Provincial Federation of Labor Unions called on all union members, workers, and laborers, as well as all levels of trade unions in the province, to continue proactively advising the Party committees, coordinating closely with the government and businesses, upholding a sense of responsibility, actively responding to and effectively implementing the programs and activities of the 2025 Workers' Month, in accordance with the actual conditions of each locality and unit.

At the ceremony, in response to the housing support program for the poor in Nghe An province, the Provincial Labor Union awarded support for the construction of 27 "Trade Union Shelters," each worth 50 million VND, with a total cost of 1.35 billion VND. At the same time, 107 gifts worth 127 million VND were also handed directly to union members and workers in difficult circumstances or who had suffered work-related accidents.

Within the framework of the program, more than 1,000 union members and workers participated in many meaningful activities such as:folk dance performanceThe event included collective celebrations of major holidays; and communication activities to enhance knowledge and skills in occupational safety and hygiene, nutrition, and healthcare. Notably, over 400 workers received free health check-ups, medical consultations, and medication at the event.

Also on the same morning, leaders of the Provincial Labor Union visited, encouraged, and presented gifts to workers who had suffered work-related accidents in Vinh City. This is an annual activity demonstrating the humanitarian tradition and deep concern of the trade union organization for its members and workers.
