Month of Action for ChildrenIt has become a deeply meaningful annual event, providing an opportunity for Party committees, government agencies, sectors, organizations, and each family to reflect on what has been achieved and what has not been achieved in the work of protecting and caring for children.

This is also an opportunity for everyone to raise awareness, emphasize responsibility, and take practical action to address family and child-related issues within their own communities.

This year, the Month of Action for Children is being implemented with the theme "Prioritizing resources to achieve goals for children" and is linked to the signing ceremony of the commitment "Safe Summer for Children," aiming to raise awareness and responsibility of all levels, sectors and the whole society in protecting and caring for children.

Through this, we will aim to organize many practical activities and mobilize resources to focus on addressing issues related to children, such as: preventing and combating abuse, violence, injuries, and drowning; and protecting and supporting children to interact safely and creatively in the online environment.

Speaking at the launch ceremony, Deputy Director of the Department of Health Nguyen Van Nam also noted that the number of drowning incidents due to swimming in ponds, lakes, rivers, and streams in Nghe An province is on the rise and is at an alarming level.

Most incidents occur because children do not know how to swim and lack safety skills when participating in water activities. Therefore, popularizing life skills and organizing swimming lessons for teenagers is a necessary solution to help reduce tragic accidents.

At the ceremony, the leaders of the Department of Health officially launched the 2025 Action Month for Children, simultaneously implementing a campaign to prevent and combat drowning and signing a commitment for a "Safe Summer for Children".

To ensure the effectiveness of child protection and care in the coming period, the leaders of the Department of Health emphasized five key tasks. These include fully implementing the policies and laws of the Party and State related to children; and promoting the dissemination and education of life skills and skills to prevent accidents and abuse, especially in water and online environments.

In addition, it is necessary to strengthen coordination among sectors and localities to organize the handover and management of children during the summer, organize cultural and sports activities, swimming lessons, and children's forums; mobilize social resources to invest in playgrounds, support disadvantaged children, and build models of safe living environments.

In particular, it is necessary to strengthen inspection and supervision work, promptly commend exemplary individuals, strictly handle violations of children's rights, and ensure that policies are implemented correctly, for the right people, in the right way, and with the right responsibilities.

Nghe An province currently has 926,216 children (accounting for 27% of the population), of which over 13,000 are children in special circumstances and nearly 132,000 are at risk of falling into special circumstances.

Currently, the majority of children receive comprehensive healthcare; 100% of children under 6 years old are provided with free medical examination and treatment cards by the State at public health facilities; and children of school age attend school at all levels.

However, currently, the situation of child abuse, deaths from drowning, traffic accidents, and risks from the online environment remains complex. Many children still suffer from congenital heart defects and other serious illnesses. Children's right to participation has not received adequate attention. Children lack playgrounds, knowledge, life skills, and self-protection skills. Children's forums are not organized regularly or widely.
