Nghe An promotes the supervisory and critical role of the Fatherland Front.
Social monitoring and criticism are important channels for the Vietnam Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations to represent and protect the legitimate rights and interests of the people, while also participating in building the Party and government. In implementing Directive No. 06 of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, this activity is increasingly becoming more in-depth, closely adhering to practical realities and people's lives.

Monitoring issues of public concern.
In May 2026, following several food safety incidents both within and outside the province, the Fatherland Front of Yen Xuan commune, in coordination with the People's Council, the Women's Union, and the commune's Health Station, conducted a monitoring visit to ensure food safety at the Long Son Kindergarten's boarding school kitchen.
During the on-site inspection, the monitoring team noted that the school had fully complied with regulations regarding food origin, processing, and preservation procedures. However, they also pointed out some shortcomings, including inadequate communication efforts, failure to apply digital transformation in publicly displaying menus for wider parental access, and inadequacies in waste collection and disposal.

Comrade Le Thi Cong - Party Secretary and Principal of the school - stated that the recommendations of the inspection team were all practical and the school focused on addressing them immediately. In particular, following the guidance and suggestions of the inspection team, the school also prepared a proposal and budget to submit to the commune government for funding to upgrade facilities and add equipment to make the school canteen more modern and well-equipped.
In Yen Xuan commune, the supervision by the Vietnam Fatherland Front and political and social organizations also covers the implementation of policies directly related to the people, administrative reform, the ethics of public officials and civil servants, and especially the supervision of 77 basic construction investment projects in the area, from schools, roads, irrigation works, and the commune's broadcasting system.
According to Nguyen Thi Huong Lien, Chairwoman of the Fatherland Front Committee of Yen Xuan commune: To improve the quality of supervision, the Fatherland Front Committee of the commune has mobilized the participation of the People's Inspection Committee, the Front Work Committee in the villages, and people with expertise and experience in the construction field. The supervision focuses on the volume and progress of construction, the quality of the project, and the conditions ensuring labor safety. For example, during the supervision of the construction project of Phan Thai At Secondary School with a total investment of nearly 14.3 billion VND, the team recommended that the construction unit supplement the warning system, strengthen measures to ensure the safety of students, and promptly inform the supervisory board about the progress of the project.

Commenting on this activity, Comrade Pham Van Toan - Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Council of Yen Xuan commune - said: Social supervision and criticism are increasingly affirming their role as an important information channel helping Party committees and authorities grasp the reality and detect early shortcomings in the process of organizing and implementing policies at the grassroots level. Supervision is not about finding errors or creating difficulties for agencies and units, but about accompanying and supporting to ensure that tasks are implemented more effectively. The recommendations after supervision are an important basis for Party committees and authorities to adjust and improve leadership and management work and promptly resolve issues arising from practice.
Supervision is not intended to find fault or create difficulties for agencies or units, but rather to accompany and support them so that tasks can be implemented more effectively.

In Quynh Luu commune, monitoring activities are also implemented focusing on practical issues affecting people's lives. For nearly a year, the Fatherland Front of the commune has organized many monitoring sessions related to election work, the operation of school canteens, the management of various funds in residential areas, and especially the distribution of health insurance medications at health stations. This content was selected based on concerns and feedback from the people regarding the shortage of certain medications or the procedures for distributing health insurance medications.
The monitoring revealed that the health stations had complied with regulations. The monitoring team also recommended that the health sector be more proactive in stockpiling and distributing medicines to mitigate localized drug shortages.
Mr. Tran Van Chung, Head of Cau Giat Health Station, stated: "The monitoring activities of the Vietnam Fatherland Front not only help the unit better recognize its shortcomings but also build greater trust among the people in the grassroots healthcare system. The recommendations of the monitoring team also serve as a basis for the station to continue improving professional procedures, enhancing service quality, and better meeting the healthcare needs of the people. This activity contributes to creating transparency and strengthening consensus between healthcare facilities and the people."
According to Nguyen Thi Quyen, Chairwoman of the Fatherland Front Committee of Quynh Luu commune: The greatest effectiveness of monitoring activities lies not only in detecting and recommending solutions to shortcomings, but also in helping people feel more secure when issues directly related to their rights are monitored and supervised by representative organizations. This is also an important bridge for the Fatherland Front to understand the thoughts and aspirations of the people, and to promptly report them to the Party Committee, government, and relevant agencies for consideration and resolution.
The greatest benefit of oversight is that it helps people feel more secure knowing that issues directly related to their rights are being monitored and supervised by representative organizations.

Enhanced monitoring, counter-argument
According to data from the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province, in 2025, the Fatherland Front at all levels chaired 1,405 monitoring activities; 463 social critique conferences; and directly contributed opinions on 1,317 draft documents, including the draft Resolution amending and supplementing some articles of the Constitution. This result not only reflects the proactiveness of the Fatherland Front system but also affirms the increasingly clear role and position of the Fatherland Front and political and social organizations in participating in building the Party and government, contributing to promoting democracy, and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of the people.

Entering 2026, in implementation of Directive No. 06 dated January 30, 2026, of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee on strengthening the leadership of Party committees at all levels over the supervision and social criticism work of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and political and social organizations in the period 2026-2030, this activity will continue to be standardized in a more systematic, scientific, and effective manner.
From the beginning of the year, the Vietnam Fatherland Front and political and social organizations at all levels have developed plans for supervision and critical review with specific content, subjects, timeframes, and assigned responsibilities for implementation. The selection of supervision topics focuses on major policies and guidelines of the Party and State; issues directly related to the legitimate rights and interests of the people; the handling of petitions and recommendations from voters and the implementation of conclusions after dialogues by heads of Party committees and governments; social welfare policies, support for disaster relief and disease control, etc.
In particular, from the provincial level down to the grassroots, the focus is on monitoring the operation of the two-tiered local government, administrative reform, and the performance of duties by officials and civil servants; and monitoring the process of reorganizing villages, hamlets, and residential areas to ensure that policies are implemented openly, transparently, in accordance with regulations, and with high consensus among the people.
In addition to innovating content, the Vietnam Fatherland Front and other political and social organizations also focus on innovating monitoring methods in a proactive, early, and grassroots-based manner; strengthening the application of information technology; and expanding the participation of experts, influential individuals, the People's Inspection Committee, and the Community Investment Monitoring Committee.
Comrade Nguyen Dinh Hung - Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province, affirmed: The current requirement is to continuously innovate the activities of social supervision and criticism; especially in selecting the content of social supervision and criticism that closely follows practical issues related to people's lives and the socio-economic development tasks of the province and each locality.
The requirement is that oversight activities must get to the bottom of the issue, recommendations must be specific and feasible, and, most importantly, follow-up and enforcement of recommendations must be carried out after oversight and social critique.
Comrade Nguyen Dinh Hung - Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province
Comrade Nguyen Dinh Hung also shared: Practical experience shows that the greatest value of social supervision and criticism lies not in the number of shortcomings and flaws discovered, but in its ability to contribute to perfecting mechanisms and policies, improving the quality of social governance, and strengthening the close relationship between the Party, the government, and the people. In the context of implementing a two-tiered local government system and the demands of high development, especially the goal of making Nghe An a national-level growth pole, social supervision and criticism need to continue to innovate their methods; because this is not only a way to exercise the people's right to self-governance, but also a mechanism to control power, prevent wrongdoing, and detect early inadequacies in the implementation of policies and guidelines.
"When the voices of the people are heard, when issues from the grassroots are reflected and resolved promptly through social monitoring and criticism, then it will become a 'pillar of trust' for the Party, the State, and the people, an important foundation for building national unity, promoting democracy, and creating social consensus in the province's new development phase," emphasized Nguyen Dinh Hung, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee.
