To date, fuel suppliers in Nghe An province have basically completed the necessary conditions to begin selling E10 bioethanol fuel from June 1st as scheduled. Simultaneously, authorities are intensifying public awareness campaigns to reassure people about its use and ensure a smooth and stable transition.

Proactively transitioning and ensuring a ready supply of E10 gasoline.

From June 1st, along with the rest of the country, Nghe An will officially switch to selling E10 bioethanol fuel, following the government's roadmap to promote the use of environmentally friendly fuels. Prior to the nationwide implementation, the petroleum market in the province has basically completed all preparatory steps, demonstrating the proactive approach of businesses and the determination of management agencies in ensuring supply and stabilizing the market.

Observations at numerous gas stations throughout the province indicate that the conversion of technical infrastructure, tanks, and fuel pumps has been largely completed. Many businesses proactively introduced E10 gasoline into sales from the end of April 2026, without waiting until the deadline, to ensure a smooth supply and help consumers gradually become familiar with this type of fuel.

Observations at Petrolimex Gas Station No. 11 in Thanh Vinh Ward show that all pumps are simultaneously supplying E10 gasoline. Sales are stable. Residents say they are aware of the policy to replace mineral gasoline with bio-gasoline, so they are no longer too strict in their product choices.

As the leading supplier of petroleum products in the area, Petrolimex Nghe An Co., Ltd. had prepared its transition plan quite early. According to data from the company's Business Department, the unit began supplying E10 gasoline in April 2026. By May 26th, the company had completed the transition to selling E10 gasoline at 100% of its affiliated gas stations.

Currently, Petrolimex Nghe An manages and operates 86 directly owned retail outlets, while also supplying goods to more than 100 franchised outlets in the area and surrounding regions. The main supply comes from the two large refineries, Nghi Son and Dung Quat, along with some imports, ensuring market stability.

According to Mr. Cao Viet Dong, Head of Sales at the company, the issue of E10 gasoline supply is not a cause for concern because the distribution is handled uniformly by the Group. “The technical process, equipment, and infrastructure are all operating smoothly and according to standards. The supply of E10 gasoline is guaranteed to be abundant for all stores, preventing shortages before the new regulations come into effect,” Mr. Dong affirmed.

Not only Petrolimex Nghe An, but many other petroleum distribution and supply businesses in the area have also proactively completed their conversion plans and are ready to supply E10 gasoline according to the new schedule.

Phuc Loc Ninh Joint Stock Company currently manages a system of 60 gas stations and dealerships in Nghe An, 32 stations in Ha Tinh, and several distribution points in Thanh Hoa. A company representative stated that the company has proactively prepared its supply sources, technical infrastructure, and distribution plan to meet the requirements for switching to E10 bioethanol fuel. Phuc Loc Ninh commits to ensuring a full and continuous supply to its entire network of stations and dealerships according to signed contracts, contributing to stabilizing the petroleum market in the North Central region before the simultaneous implementation on June 1st.

Reportedly, Nghe An province currently has over 600 gasoline stations. Not only are businesses being proactive, but consumer attitudes are also gradually changing in a positive direction. The fact that stations are selling fuel early allows people time to experience and get used to the new fuel instead of waiting until the mandatory switching date.

In addition to ensuring supply, a major concern for many people today is the compatibility of E10 gasoline with their current vehicles. According to petroleum businesses, most cars and motorcycles circulating in Vietnam can safely use this type of fuel.

Essentially, E10 gasoline is a blend of mineral gasoline and up to 10% bioethanol. Not only does it ensure stable engine performance, but this type of fuel is also considered more environmentally friendly due to its contribution to reducing harmful emissions.

One common concern among consumers is whether it's necessary to drain the remaining gasoline in the tank before switching to E10 fuel. According to technical recommendations from businesses and car manufacturers, for most newer cars and motorcycles, this is completely unnecessary. E10 fuel will naturally mix with the remaining fuel in the tank during operation without causing chemical conflicts or affecting the engine.

Only a few cases, such as very old vehicles or vehicles that have been left unused for a long time, require extra attention during use. However, this is a small percentage, and people can easily refer to the manufacturer's instructions or consult at gas stations to make appropriate choices.

Besides learning about E10 gasoline, recently some videos have appeared on social media instructing people on how to "separate ethanol from E10 gasoline" using manual methods, hoping to make their vehicles run faster or revert to traditional gasoline. However, experts warn people against following these methods. Ethanol in E10 gasoline is blended according to strict technical standards and ratios to ensure combustion efficiency, stability, and fuel quality. Adding water or extracting ethanol at will can alter the gasoline's properties, posing a risk of engine damage, fire hazards, and compromising the fuel's original technical standards.

To ensure a synchronized transition, the Nghe An Department of Industry and Trade issued Official Letter No. 1836/SCT-QLTM on monitoring and inspecting the implementation of E10 bioethanol fuel, requesting specialized departments, relevant units, and petroleum businesses in the area to continue strictly implementing the transition roadmap as directed by the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Provincial People's Committee.

Accordingly, relevant units and departments are responsible for widely disseminating information about the safety and benefits of E10 gasoline to reassure consumers. Gasoline retail outlets are also required to urgently complete the installation of tanks, pumps, and technical infrastructure to switch to selling E10 gasoline in accordance with regulations, ensuring there are absolutely no delays or disruptions in the supply.

Starting June 1st, market management forces will coordinate with relevant units to strengthen supervision and inspection at retail gasoline stations, strictly handling cases of trading in the wrong type of fuel, hoarding, creating shortages in supply, or violating regulations on fuel prices and quality.

According to a representative from the Trade Management Department of the Nghe An Department of Industry and Trade, in parallel with urging businesses to upgrade their technical infrastructure, the Industry and Trade sector is paying special attention to communication efforts to help people understand E10 bioethanol correctly and create consensus during the transition process.
