Nghe An province issues directive to proactively respond to tropical depression.

The Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense of Nghe An province has just issued a dispatch on proactively responding to the tropical depression.

According to a bulletin from the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, on the afternoon of May 30th, the low-pressure area over the Hoang Sa archipelago strengthened into a tropical depression. At 1 PM, the tropical depression was located at approximately 17.0 degrees North latitude and 112.2 degrees East longitude, over the Hoang Sa archipelago. The strongest winds near the center of the tropical depression reached level 6, with gusts up to level 8; it was moving northward at a speed of 5-10 km/h.

Forecast for the next 24 hours: The tropical depression will move northward at a speed of 15 km/h; wind speeds will be level 7, gusting to level 9; the dangerous area is predicted to be north of latitude 15 degrees; from 111.0 to 115.0 degrees East longitude.

To proactively respond to the tropical depression, the Standing Office of the Provincial Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense has issued Official Dispatch No. 61/VP-PCTT requesting the Steering Committees for Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue in coastal districts and towns, and relevant agencies and units to closely monitor information and developments of the tropical depression; inform captains and owners of vessels operating at sea to proactively take preventive measures and adjust production plans accordingly, ensuring safety of people and property; and maintain communication to promptly handle any adverse situations that may occur.

At the same time, ensure that rescue forces and equipment are ready to promptly handle any emergency situation.

The provincial radio and television station, Nghe An Newspaper, and other mass media agencies should strengthen information and communication about the developments of the tropical depression so that all levels of government and people can proactively respond.

The units on duty are strictly organized and regularly report to the Standing Office of the Provincial Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense.
