At 13:00 on August 22nd, the locationeye of the stormAt approximately 16.3 degrees North latitude and 123.8 degrees East longitude, the storm is forecast to move northwest over the next 24 hours. By 13:00 on August 23rd, the storm's center will be located at 18.1 degrees North latitude and 122.3 degrees East longitude, over the northeastern part of Luzon Island, with near-center winds reaching force 8, gusting to force 10.

Over the next 24 to 48 hours, the storm will move west-northwest into the South China Sea and intensify; by 13:00 on August 24th, the storm's center will be located at 19.7 degrees North latitude and 118.7 degrees East longitude, with near-center winds reaching level 9, gusting to level 11.
