(Baonghean.vn) - According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, the tropical depression operating in the East of the Philippines has strengthened into a storm (storm Ma-on).
At 1:00 p.m. on August 22, locationeye of the stormat about 16.3 degrees North latitude, 123.8 degrees East longitude. In the next 24 hours, the storm is forecast to move northwest; at 1:00 p.m. on August 23, the storm center will be at 18.1 degrees North latitude, 122.3 degrees East longitude, in the northeastern area of Luzon Island, with winds near the storm center at level 8, gusting to level 10.
In the next 24 to 48 hours, the storm will move in a West-Northwest direction into the East Sea and strengthen; at 1:00 p.m. on August 24, the storm center will be at 19.7 degrees North latitude, 118.7 degrees East longitude, with winds near the storm center at level 9, gusting to level 11.

To proactively respond to the storm's developments, at 5:00 p.m. this afternoon (August 22), the Standing OfficeNghe An Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil DefenseTelegram No. 06/CD-VPTT has been sent to localities and relevant agencies.
Accordingly, the Standing Office of the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention - Search and Rescue and Civil Defense requests the Steering Committees for Natural Disaster Prevention - Search and Rescue of coastal districts, cities and towns; relevant departments, branches and agencies to direct the implementation of a number of necessary contents such as:
