Nghe An province launches a nationwide health check-up campaign starting May 16, 2026.
On the afternoon of May 8th, the Nghe An Department of Health organized a conference to launch the health check-up and screening campaign for people in Nghe An province in 2026.
The conference was chaired by Ms. Le Thi Hoai Chung, Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Director of the Nghe An Department of Health. Attending the conference were leaders from relevant departments and agencies, and leaders of healthcare facilities throughout the province.

Resolution No. 72-NQ/TW dated September 9, 2025, of the Politburo on breakthrough solutions to strengthen the protection, care, and improvement of people's health, sets forth the requirement for a strong change in awareness and action regarding the protection, care, and improvement of people's health. This includes a strong shift from a mindset focused on diagnosis and treatment to proactive disease prevention; and an emphasis on comprehensive, continuous health protection, care, and improvement throughout the life cycle.
The resolution sets out a strategic goal: "From 2026, people will receive free periodic health check-ups or screenings at least once a year, and will have electronic health records created to manage their health throughout their lives, gradually reducing the burden of healthcare costs."

To ensure the synchronized and effective implementation of free annual health check-ups or screenings for people throughout the province, starting in 2026, the Nghe An Provincial Health Department has identified this as a key, ongoing, and long-term task linked to socio-economic development programs and plans, ensuring social security, and improving the lives of the people. It represents a significant turning point, demonstrating a strong shift from a "cure" mindset to a proactive "prevention" approach, focusing on early disease detection for timely treatment and reducing the burden of healthcare costs.

In line with that spirit, the Nghe An Department of Health has proactively issued a plan to organize a health check-up and screening campaign for the people in 2026. The campaign is a widespread social movement aimed at building a "healthcare culture" in the community.
To ensure the campaign is truly effective, the Director of the Nghe An Department of Health, Le Thi Hoai Chung, requested relevant units to focus on strengthening propaganda and implementing the motto "going to every alley, knocking on every door, checking every individual," ensuring that no one is left out, especially the elderly, war veterans, poor and near-poor households, vulnerable people, and people in remote areas.

Healthcare facilities need to be fully prepared with sufficient personnel and equipment; organize examinations scientifically, safely, and with quality, avoiding formality; and assign competent and responsible medical staff to participate in the campaign, with a dedicated, friendly attitude, providing thorough guidance, and creating maximum convenience for people when they come for examinations.
At the same time, promote the application of information technology; examination results must be fully, accurately, and promptly updated to the system in accordance with regulations so that people can monitor their health on the VNeID application.
According to the plan, the 2026 health check-up and screening campaign for people in Nghe An province will launch simultaneously on May 16, 2026, with the goal of covering 100% of communes and wards in Nghe An province. This includes establishing 20 key screening points at the grassroots level with support from doctors, nurses, and equipment from the provincial level. The campaign will prioritize six target groups: children, the elderly, people with meritorious service to the revolution, self-employed workers, and people who have not visited a medical facility for examination in the past three years.
