On the evening of October 16, Mr. Hun Vi Thay - Secretary of the Party Committee of Chau Quang commune, Quy Hop district, said that a mine collapse had just occurred in this commune, killing 3 people and injuring 1 person.

According to Mr. Thay, the incident occurred between 4-5 p.m. on the afternoon of October 16, at a quarry of Cuong Hai Minerals and Trading Joint Stock Company in Chau Quang commune, killing 3 people and seriously injuring 1 person who was taken to the emergency room.

“The quarry collapse killed three people, one of whom was Luong Van Huong, born in 1982, residing in Quang Huong hamlet, Chau Quang commune, and two others in Chau Cuong commune. All three were from Quy Hop district. Currently, Huong’s body has been returned home for burial procedures. The authorities are still investigating the incident,” Mr. Thay said.

According to a private source of the reporter, by 8:30 pm that same day, the authorities and representatives of Cuong Hai Company were completing the necessary procedures to bring all 3 victims back to their hometowns to arrange burial procedures. The seriously injured driver was being taken to the emergency room.

Currently, the cause of the quarry collapse is being further investigated by authorities.
