Over the past few days, the People's Committee of Hung Dung Ward and the Management Board of Hung Dung Market (Hung Dung Ward, Vinh City) haveTighten disease prevention measures at the market. The trading activities of small traders outside the market are strictly prohibited, with only the two main front gates open. People entering and leaving the market must have their temperature checked, fill out a health declaration form, and adhere to the 5K guidelines; small traders entering the market are issued business permits by the market management board.
According to the plan, on the afternoon of August 19th, 100% of the market vendors will receive free Covid-19 testing at the ward's stadium.
Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Khanh, Chairman of the People's Committee of Hung Dung Ward, said: "Since August 14th, when the outbreak was identified at the wholesale market, and later at Quang Trung Market, the ward directed a higher level of epidemic prevention and control at Hung Dung and Nha Din markets. In addition to deploying additional forces at the markets to control people entering and exiting, ward leaders directly went to the markets to rectify the situation, resolutely eliminating makeshift markets and temporary stalls outside; providing chemicals and personnel to disinfect the markets."

The city currently has 27 operating markets, supplying food and groceries to its residents. Immediately after the discovery of a Covid-19 case at the wholesale market, the city focused on reviewing and rectifying disease prevention measures at all markets in the area.
Accordingly, along with the 5K guidelines, markets are required to maintain a 2-meter distance between people. Markets have marked lines and strung ropes to maintain distance; at the same time, they have deployed checkpoints at market entrances and exits, limiting the number of buyers and sellers inside the market, preventing them from gathering at the same time; and are resolutely cracking down on illegal markets, temporary markets, and business activities outside market areas.

No matter how difficult it is, we must do everything thoroughly to control the epidemic. Currently, wards and communes in the area have raised the level of epidemic prevention and control in markets to a higher, more specific, and more practical level.”
The city is also determined to close and lock down high-risk markets; and is being cautious when reopening markets that have been locked down… Starting from August 20th, the entire city will implement a system of staggered market visits by issuing market access cards to residents.”

“Currently, there are 376 markets in the province, serving as the main hubs for supplying essential goods to the people. However, these are complex areas with large crowds, making it difficult to control outbreaks if an epidemic were to enter. Therefore, effectively preventing and controlling the epidemic while ensuring the supply of goods and preventing disruptions to the supply chain is a critical issue. Each locality, in addition to implementing general policies, must adapt its epidemic prevention methods based on the actual situation. Strict action will be taken against those responsible for outbreaks in markets due to negligence or complacency in epidemic prevention.”
