Nghe An: Tightening management of passenger and cargo transport during Tet
(Baonghean.vn) - In order to ensure people's travel needs are convenient and safe during Tet, the authorities have increased inspections and strictly handled violations in the field of passenger and cargo transportation, and directed the arrangement of sufficient vehicles to serve the people.
Strengthening inspection and handling of traffic violations
Right before the New Year, the Nghe An Department of Transport Inspectorate mobilized maximum human resources and means to organize 8 working groups on duty in the whole province, and arranged 6 working groups in Vinh City. Priority was given to arranging forces in locations and areas with high risk of traffic congestion and violations of traffic order and safety.
The main tasks of the working groups are to coordinate with functional forces to regulate and guide traffic during rush hours; inspect and handle violations of order and safety of road and inland waterway traffic according to their authority.

Faced with the increasing number of illegal buses and bus stations during holidays and Tet, posing a potential risk to security, order and traffic, the Department of Transport's inspection force and traffic police have increased patrols of passenger transport activities at bus stations in Vinh City and districts.Ensure traffic safetyOn traffic routes, promptly detect and handle violations of passenger transport, overcrowding, illegal vehicles, shared vehicles, etc.
During the inspection process, the interdisciplinary force focused on checking errors such as departure conditions of vehicles and drivers, conditions to ensure safety for passengers on the vehicle. Monitor and supervise passenger vehicles through journey monitoring devices, strictly handle cases of stopping to pick up and drop off passengers at the wrong place.
During the inspection, the authorities required the bus operators to sign a commitment to strictly comply with the provisions of the law.
From January 1, 2023 to now, the Department of Transport's inspection force has handled 240 traffic violation tickets, paying the State budget over 260 million VND.

To strengthen the work of ensuring traffic order and safety to serve the people to enjoy the Lunar New Year of Quy Mao, the Spring Festival 2023 and seriously implement the Prime Minister's Official Dispatch No. 1174/CD-TT dated December 19, 2022, the Nghe An Department of Transport has a plan to organize,traffic regulation and flow, promptly clear up to avoid prolonged congestion when there is a traffic incident, especially before the Lunar New Year holiday on the main routes in and out of Vinh city, routes connecting to the train station, airport, port and the Spring Festival area...
Strengthen inspection and examination activities in the transport sector, focusing on passenger and freight transport activities; strictly handle the following acts: unqualified transport business; violation of regulations on transport support service business; carrying more people than prescribed; raising ticket prices and transport fares against regulations; running on the wrong transport route; picking up and dropping off passengers at the wrong place.
Directing the public posting of the department's hotline number on public passenger transport vehicles, arranging staff on duty to receive and process information from the hotline 24/7 during peak days.
Strengthen coordination with railway units, People's Committees of districts, cities and towns where railways pass through to properly perform the task of ensuring railway traffic safety in the province according to the provisions of law. Urge units and localities to properly implement the signed Regulations on coordination to ensure railway traffic safety and order...
Arrange enough facilities to serve the people
To meet the travel needs of passengers during the Lunar New Year, it is estimated that the whole province will mobilize nearly 19,000 vehicles to serve nearly 450,000 people. Nghe An Department of Transport has a plan to increase vehicles for 5 routes including Nghe An - Hanoi, Nghe An - Hai Phong, Nghe An - Da Nang, Nghe An - Hue, Nghe An - Ho Chi Minh City.
About 2 months before the Lunar New Year, the Provincial People's Committee issued a Decision to establish a Steering Committee for passenger transport services during the Tet and Spring Festival 2023. Accordingly, the Transport sector was assigned the main responsibility of directing and coordinating with functional forces to organize and control passenger transport during the Tet holiday.

To best serve the travel needs of people during Tet, the Steering Committee requires transport businesses to arrange vehicles, increase, supplement or transfer vehicles, drivers and service staff when people need them. At the same time, they must manage their drivers and operations well, and strictly comply with the Road Traffic Law.
Bus stations and train stations need to be cleaned up and arranged to provide information so that passengers can proactively choose their trips. The Department of Transport has asked transport businesses to proactively sell tickets in advance to passengers in many forms. Apply information technology to facilitate people who need to buy tickets, and at the same time, take measures to prevent speculation and ticket trading that cause social disorder...
