On the afternoon of April 6th, the Provincial Steering Committee for Labor Supply and Demand Connection for the period 2025-2030 held a meeting to evaluate the labor supply and demand connection work in the province in 2025 and the first quarter of 2026, and to implement tasks for the coming period.

The meeting was co-chaired by members of the Provincial Party Committee: Thai Van Thanh - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; and Nguyen Viet Hung - Director of the Department of Internal Affairs.

Attending the meeting were members of the Steering Committee; the Nghe An Employment Service Center; and representatives of recruitment and employment service businesses.

In 2025, the entire province will create jobs for 49,000 workers, achieving 104.25% of the set plan. Of these, 30,876 workers will find jobs within the province, accounting for 63.01% of the total number of jobs created; and 17,000 workers will go to work abroad under contract, accounting for 34.6%.

In the first quarter of 2026, the entire province provided employment for 11,750 people. Of these, 7,065 workers (64.38%) worked within the province; 885 workers (7.53%) worked in other provinces; and 3,800 workers (32.34%) were sent to work abroad under contract.

According to the survey report on job search needs in communes and wards in 2026, the total number of people seeking employment is 64,512; of which, 27,058 are working within the province; 22,320 are working outside the province; and 15,201 are working abroad under contract.

In reality, Nghe An province has approximately 30,000-35,000 people entering the workforce each year. In addition, over 800,000 Nghe An workers are currently living and working outside the province; this represents a significant human resource pool for businesses in the province, especially FDI enterprises, to attract workers back home if appropriate wage, income, and benefits policies are in place.

Forecasts for 2026 indicate that large enterprises in Nghe An's economic zones and industrial parks will need nearly 90,000 workers; FDI enterprises will dominate (over 70% of recruitment needs), focusing on sectors such as electronic component manufacturing, green energy, garment export, and automotive components.

However, businesses are facing difficulties in recruiting and attracting workers, especially skilled and high-quality labor. Currently, the province's labor structure continues to shift in a positive direction; the agricultural, forestry, and fisheries sector accounts for about 28-30%; the industrial and construction sector about 32-34%; and the service sector about 36-38%, reflecting a trend of decreasing agricultural labor and increasing labor in the industrial and service sectors.

In the first quarter of 2026, wages in businesses in Nghe An showed an improving trend; however, average income remains low compared to living standards and the general level of industrial provinces. This is one of the reasons why businesses in the area face difficulties in attracting and securing a stable workforce.

At the meeting, representatives from businesses exchanged information on labor recruitment needs and job openings; and discussed coordination between businesses, schools, and relevant departments and agencies in labor training and recruitment.

Concluding the meeting, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Thai Van Thanh acknowledged the contributions of FDI enterprises to the socio-economic development of the province.

In the coming period, the province will develop more specific and robust mechanisms and policies to attract and create the most favorable conditions for FDI enterprises to develop and contribute to the local economy in the new context.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Thai Van Thanh assigned the Department of Internal Affairs - the Standing Agency of the Steering Committee - to take the lead in advising the Steering Committee on the comprehensive implementation of solutions to connect labor supply and demand in the province. In coordination with the Management Board of the Southeast Economic Zone and relevant departments and agencies, they are to regularly update and compile the labor recruitment needs of businesses.
The Department of Construction and related units are accelerating the progress of social housing projects, worker housing projects, and essential infrastructure serving workers. They are also researching and proposing mechanisms to support workers in accessing suitable housing.
