Nghe An province intensifies traffic control after the New Year's holiday.
Following the New Year's Day holiday in 2026, the demand for travel in Nghe An province increased significantly. In response, relevant authorities proactively implemented a comprehensive set of solutions, focusing on increasing transportation options, tightening management of transportation activities, ensuring traffic order and safety, and creating conditions for people to travel with peace of mind after the holiday.
Keep prices stable at the dock.

In order to proactively serve the travel needs of the people, Nghe An Bus Station Joint Stock Company has promptly implemented plans, requiring transport businesses to mobilize the maximum number of vehicles, ensuring service quality and safety for passengers.
According to a representative of Nghe An Bus Station Joint Stock Company, the unit has been developing plans to serve passengers during the New Year holiday and subsequent peak periods since the beginning of December. Specifically, the bus station has prepared approximately 520 vehicles from more than 60 passenger transport companies operating both within and outside the province. In addition to the regularly operating vehicles, the companies have also arranged additional reserve vehicles, ready to be deployed when passenger numbers surge, ensuring that passengers do not have to wait long or be unable to purchase tickets.
After the New Year holiday, passengers mainly traveled on intra-provincial and inter-provincial routes to Hai Phong, Hanoi, Da Nang, Hue, Quang Binh, Ho Chi Minh City, etc. In general, operations at bus stations were stable and orderly, with no crowding or pushing.
Notably, transportation businesses operating at Nghe An Bus Station have committed to not increasing ticket prices during the 2026 New Year holiday. Representatives from several bus companies stated that maintaining stable ticket prices is not only a responsibility to passengers but also contributes to building the company's image and fostering long-term trust. For example, the Vinh - Hanoi route for 42-seat buses will maintain the price of 200,000 VND/ticket; for high-quality and VIP buses, the price ranges from 250,000 to 290,000 VND/ticket, unchanged from normal days. The bus station also continues to require transportation businesses to sign commitments not to increase ticket prices, not to carry more passengers than permitted, and not to stop to pick up or drop off passengers illegally during holidays.
However, contrary to the commitments of businesses operating within the bus terminal, fare increases are quite common on "unofficial" bus routes. Investigations reveal that many bus companies arbitrarily raise fares during holidays without publicly posting the prices, causing frustration for passengers.
We contacted the Tang Tin bus company in Binh Minh commune to buy tickets to Hanoi. The staff informed us that the regular ticket price ranges from 180,000 to 200,000 VND, but after the New Year, it increased to 250,000 VND. Similarly, when contacting the PO bus company in Do Luong commune, we learned that the regular bus ticket price to Hanoi during the holiday was up to 300,000 VND, while on normal days it was only around 200,000 VND. For VIP buses, the holiday price was 400,000 VND, an increase of 100,000 VND compared to the regular price.

Not only road transport, but other public transport units also proactively increased their vehicles to serve the travel needs of the people. During the New Year holiday, bus routes in Nghe An province had increased trips and extended operating hours. Mr. Bui Ngoc Hoang - Director of the Nghe An branch of Dong Bac Trading and Construction Corporation, said that the unit currently has more than 110 buses, including 5 reserve buses. Right from the New Year holiday, all buses were mobilized to operate at full capacity, and trips were increased, especially during the peak days from the 3rd to the 4th of the New Year. In addition, the unit also maintained a hotline to receive and promptly handle passenger complaints.
In the railway sector, according to statistics from the Vinh Railway Station, the number of train passengers after the New Year's holiday increased but not dramatically. Specifically, on January 3rd, there were only about 1,000 passengers, while on January 4th, this increased to over 2,000. Therefore, unlike previous years when additional train services had to be added, this year's New Year's holiday only required adding carriages to 6 trains, each adding 280-400 seats. Currently, most passengers are accustomed to buying train tickets online, significantly reducing congestion and chaos at physical ticket counters.
Tighten transportation management.
To best serve the travel needs of the people during peak periods, especially the New Year holiday, the Provincial People's Committee has directed relevant agencies and transportation businesses to develop a comprehensive plan. This includes ensuring sufficient vehicles to serve the public, focusing on vehicle maintenance and repair; and ensuring technical safety and environmental protection before and during vehicle operation. Fire prevention and counter-terrorism measures at bus and train stations have also been strengthened.

In addition, transport businesses must ensure that drivers strictly comply with the Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety, the Road Law, and regulations on transport business; and improve their sense of responsibility and attitude towards serving passengers. Drivers must adhere to the prescribed schedules, routes, driving times, and speeds; not stop to pick up or drop off passengers illegally, and not carry more passengers than allowed; and absolutely not use alcohol, beer, or stimulants while working.
Furthermore, transport companies are proactively developing advance ticket sales plans through various methods, publicly and transparently displaying ticket prices according to the declared and posted rates; prioritizing the application of information technology to facilitate ticket purchases for the public. The full posting of vehicle information, license plates, and hotline numbers of relevant authorities in the passenger cabin is required, making it easy for passengers to report violations.
