(Baonghean.vn) - In the past few days, Nghe An has had some localized "golden rains". However, the return of intense heat has caused many rice fields and crops in Tan Ky, Nghi Loc, Nam Dan, Do Luong districts... to lack water. Many places are focusing on fighting drought to save rice in the reservoir area and downstream areas.
Summer-autumn crop - this season, Tan Ky district plans to plant 4,600 hectares of rice, however, due to prolonged sunshine, over 50 reservoirs in the district are at dead water level. Therefore, over 2,000 hectares of planted rice are severely drought-stricken. In the photo: Nghia Hanh commune reservoir (Tan Ky) is dry. Photo: Van Truong

Mr. Nguyen Cong Trung - Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Tan Ky district, said: Currently, the district is mobilizing electric pumps and field pumps to pump water from rivers, streams, and reservoirs to save some rice fields. If it does not rain, the rice fields will die due to drought and will increase. In the photo: Gourds withered by the drought. Photo: Van Truong

According to the report of the Irrigation Department, up to now, more than 4,000 hectares of rice have been affected by drought, many corn areas have been burned to death, and if there is no rain for more than a week, the drought-affected rice area will increase to about 10,000 hectares. Worryingly, not only will the drought-affected area increase, but many crop areas will also be burned to death. (Baonghean.vn) - Currently, more than 5,000 hectares of rice in Hung Nguyen district are in the tillering stage, but the water level in the rivers is lower than the average of many years and only meets nearly half of the number of pumps in the area.
