With over 11,000 hectares of summer-autumn rice, Yen Thanh district has harvested 8,400 hectares to date, including rice in low-lying, frequently flooded areas, which the local authorities are diligently harvesting.
Mr. Le Van Hong, Head of the Agriculture and Rural Development Department of the district, said: Thanks to the continuous propaganda and mobilization efforts of the localities, as well as the self-awareness of the people, the summer-autumn rice crop in low-lying communes such as Khanh Thanh, Long Thanh, Nhan Thanh, Bao Thanh... has been basically harvested. The remaining area of about 2,000 hectares concentrated in Dong Thanh, Kim Thanh, Quang Thanh communes... will also be harvested in the coming days.
In Dien Chau district, by September 6th, the entire district had basically completed the harvest of the summer-autumn rice crop, covering an area of over 8,000 hectares. Local people are taking advantage of the sunny weather to dry and store the rice before the heavy rains occur.
In Nghi Loc district, due to the characteristics of later planting schedules and frequent water shortages, only about 1,000 hectares out of 5,244 hectares of summer-autumn rice have been harvested so far. This is concentrated in the communes of Nghi Van, Nghi Kieu, Nghi Cong, etc.
For the remaining rice fields (approximately 4,000 hectares) concentrated in the communes of Nghi Dien, Nghi Van, Nghi Hoa, Nghi Thuan, etc., it will take another 15-20 days before harvest. Therefore, Nghi Loc district is directing local authorities to regularly inspect the fields, and if the rice is 70% ripe, it can be harvested early.
For areas where the rice plants are still young and not yet ready for harvest, it is necessary to focus on clearing canals and ditches and improving irrigation so that if heavy rains occur, the water will drain quickly, preventing flooding.
