Nghe An: Established 21 working groups to direct the overcoming of consequences of storm No. 2
(Baonghean.vn) - Storm No. 2 (Talas) has made landfall in Nghe An with strong winds for many hours. In most districts and cities in the province, there have been initial losses of people and property.
At 1:00 a.m. on July 17, storm No. 2 made landfall in Nghe An, with the strongest wind near the storm's center at level 8 (60-75km/h), gusting to level 9-10.

Right in Vinh city, the storm raged continuously for 3 hours, causing widespread power outages, many trees were uprooted by the wind, blocking roads and causing traffic jams. By 4am the same day, the storm began to weaken, according to initial statistics, Nghe An had suffered human and property damage.
In Hoang Mai town, 1 person died due to a collapsed house wall, 1 boat sank, 100 corrugated iron roofs were blown off; In Cua Lo town, at around 2:00 a.m. on July 17, while anchored north of Ngu Island in Cua Lo town, a ship numbered VTP 26 carrying coal from Quang Ninh to Cua Lo port with 13 crew members and the cargo owner was sunk by waves. Currently, the port authority is coordinating with the border guards, navy, and local authorities to search and rescue the crew members and the ship.
In Hung Nguyen district, the tornado destroyed two boats on Lam River, broke the welcome gate in Hung Thinh commune, causing traffic jam on National Highway 1A (Vinh bypass)... Other localities in the province also had broken electric poles and uprooted old trees, causing traffic jams.

To proactively prevent storm No. 2, the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue has divided 21 teams to inspect and direct prevention plans in 21 localities in the province. In addition, the Provincial Party Committee established 1 team, the Provincial People's Committee established 1 team and the Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development established 3 teams to inspect and direct.
As for the Nghe An Police force, on the afternoon of July 16, the leaders of the Nghe An Provincial Police held a meeting to deploy forces, tasks and prevention plans. The leaders of the Provincial Police requested the police of Quynh Luu, Dien Chau, Nghi Loc districts, and Cua Lo town to proactively advise on plans to evacuate coastal households to safe places, avoid rising water and high tides when the storm makes landfall; coordinate with relevant agencies to call on boats to return to safe shelters; proactively notify them to avoid, anchor in safe places and not enter dangerous areas.

Nghe An police also mobilized hundreds of officers and soldiers directly to vulnerable areas to help people overcome the consequences of storms and floods, maintaining 100% on-duty to promptly respond when requested. At the same time, they focused on plans to ensure the safety of dams in the area, because the circulation after the storm will cause widespread rain./.
