Nghe An province adds another public school that is now accepting applications for 10th grade.

On February 28, 2026, the People's Committee of Nghe An province issued Decision No. 699/QD-UBND on the establishment of the Primary, Secondary, and High School of Pedagogical Practice of Nghe An University.

According to this decision, the Nghe An University Pedagogical Practice Primary, Secondary, and High School (hereinafter referred to as the Nghe An University Pedagogical Practice High School) is a public general education institution under the direct management of Nghe An University. It is organized and operates in compliance with current regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training for multi-level general education schools and is subject to professional management as prescribed by the Department of Education and Training and other relevant agencies.

Thus, with this decision, from 2026, the former Vinh City area will have one more public high school with enrollment at the high school level, in addition to the other public schools: Phan Boi Chau Specialized High School, Huynh Thuc Khang High School, Ha Huy Tap High School, Le Viet Thuat High School, Vinh University Specialized High School, Vinh University Teacher Training School, and Nghe An High School for Gifted Students in Physical Education and Sports.

Previously, the Nghe An University Pedagogical Practice Primary, Secondary, and High School was the Nghe An Pedagogical Practice Primary and Secondary School (under the Nghe An College of Pedagogy and later Nghe An University). Over the years, the school has enrolled students in both primary and secondary levels and currently has more than 900 students studying there.

As a public school, according to regulations for the 2025-2026 school year, students are exempt from tuition fees as per general regulations. However, the school organizes enhanced programs and provides boarding facilities for students in both grade levels, with tuition fees for these enhanced programs ranging from approximately 1 million VND (depending on the program and content).

Following the establishment decision, the Nghe An University Teacher Training High School has also planned to enroll approximately 120 students in 3 classes of 10th grade. However, the specific plan is awaiting approval from relevant regulations.

Thus, with the addition of one more public school admitting students to grade 10, students in the former Vinh City area have another opportunity to choose and register for admission. Given the dramatic increase in student numbers in the area this year (approximately 8,000 students, double the number compared to the 2025 admission season), this is even more practically significant.

Regarding the 2026 enrollment season, the Department of Education and Training has already developed an enrollment plan.10th gradeand submitted to the Provincial People's Committee for approval. This year, students in Nghe An taking the 10th grade entrance exam will take three subjects: Mathematics, Literature (essay format), and Foreign Language (multiple-choice format). The exam is tentatively scheduled to be held at the end of May, one week earlier than the previous school year.

Due to the sudden increase in the number of students in the province, especially in the former Vinh City area, the Department is currently considering options to reduce pressure on students, such as increasing enrollment quotas for 10th grade classes and increasing class sizes. In addition to schools in the former Vinh City area, neighboring schools such as Nghi Loc 3 High School, Thai Lao High School, and Nguyen Duy Trinh High School are also expected to increase their enrollment quotas to alleviate the burden on the inner city.
