For many years now, every rice harvest season, Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoan (Hoi Son commune) has gone to the fields to harvest rice for hire. Every day she harvests one sao of rice, and is paid about 130-150 thousand VND. Ms. Ngoan shared: It is the peak harvest season so the demand for harvesting workers is very high, I take advantage of the time to earn extra income and improve my life.

During the rice harvest season, many farmers in Anh Son have extra income from the job of hired rice harvesters.

In addition to harvesting by hand, many farmers also use simple cutting machines to increase productivity and earn extra income during the harvest season. Every day this week, Mr. Phan Ngoc Hung in Hamlet 5, Hoi Son Commune, starts his day by taking his rice cutting machine to the fields to harvest for hire.

His family invested more than 3 million VND to buy a rice harvester for both family use and to earn extra income. Mr. Hung said: At first glance, everyone thinks that the job of harvesting rice by machine is quite simple, but in fact, this job requires good health. Often working under the hot sun, continuously for many hours, but in return, I also earn a good income every day, about 500 thousand VND, after harvesting 3-4 sao of rice.

Mr. Phan Ngoc Hung in village 5, Hoi Son commune, starts a new day by using a rice cutting machine to cut rice for hire. After harvesting, he is paid 120-150 thousand VND for each sao.

Not far away, Mr. Nguyen Huu Nam's combine harvester is also operating at full capacity. His hometown is in Thanh Hoa, but every rice harvest season, he brings the machine to Nghe An to rent to farmers. The demand for harvesting rice with combine harvesters is increasing due to its outstanding features such as: less grain loss, fast harvesting, less labor, low cost, suitable for farmers' budget. More and more families have switched to renting combine harvesters. Every day, Mr. Nam can harvest an area of ​​1 hectare, at a price of 200,000 VND per sao, earning over 4 million VND per day.

Combine harvesters are also a modern means of making a living for hired rice harvesters. Mr. Nguyen Huu Nam has invested hundreds of millions of dong to do this job of harvesting rice for hire.

Although harvesting for hire is a seasonal job, "following" the rice harvest season. There are about 2 crops per year, each crop only lasts ten days or half a month. However, each rice harvest season is a job opportunity for many rural workers in the countryside, giving them a good source of income. During each harvest season, in Anh Son district, there are 250-300 people who specialize in harvesting and threshing rice for hire.

Not only harvesting for hire, when the rice fields are in the peak harvest season, it is also the time when people who work as rice threshers enter the season.

To achieve success in the crop seasons, Anh Son has focused on promoting mechanization in agricultural production. Currently, the whole district has 2,245 machines put into production.

Among them, many farmers have also boldly invested in machinery such as: plows, weeders, threshers and harvesters... Not only serving family production, people also flexibly use these vehicles to work for hire, increasing their income during harvest days.
