*HERdue to the impact of the recent severe cold spell,large areas of rice paddiesRice crops in localities throughout Quynh Luu district (Nghe An province) have died. Farmers are quite worried as the planting season is approaching.

Quynh Luu District advises people to open both ends of the planting beds when the weather is warm and sunny, and to cover them again before 5 PM to protect against cold weather and prevent rats and aphids from entering and causing damage, which can spread black striped dwarf disease. In addition, absolutely no foliar fertilizers high in nitrogen should be applied before transplanting.

According to data from the Provincial Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection, Nghe An province planted 7,400 hectares of high-yield cassava this year, with a yield of 30-35 tons/ha, and an estimated production of 250,000 tons.

In March 2020, Ngoc had just finished serving her fifth sentence for "illegally transporting narcotics." However, at 2:00 AM on July 24, 2020, while carrying a briefcase containing drugs in a car en route to Hanoi, upon reaching Dien Chau district, Ngoc was apprehended by the Nghe An Provincial Police's anti-narcotics force. She was caught red-handed with nearly 400g of narcotics, including methamphetamine and ecstasy pills.
