Nghe An: Highlights of May 17th

* On the afternoon of May 17th,delegation of the Provincial People's CommitteeA delegation led by Comrade Bui Thanh An - Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - visited and congratulated the Executive Board of the Vietnam Buddhist Association of Nghe An province on the occasion of the Great Buddha's Birthday Celebration, Buddhist Calendar 2570 - Gregorian Calendar 2026, at Diec Pagoda, Thanh Vinh Ward.

* On May 17th, in Xieng Khouang province, Lao People's Democratic Republic, in a solemn and sacred atmosphere,A memorial service was held for the souls of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who died in the war.Those who sacrificed their lives on foreign soil were solemnly commemorated according to the traditional customs and practices of our brotherly country, Laos.

* The Government issued Decree No. 161/2026/ND-CP dated May 15, 2026regulations on base salary and bonus schemeThis applies to officials, civil servants, public employees, and members of the armed forces. Accordingly, the basic salary will increase to 2,530,000 VND/month from July 1, 2026.

* Also effective from July 1, 2026, according to Decree 162/2026/ND-CP,pension and social insurance benefitsIt will increase by an additional 8%. Specifically, the Government is raising pensions, social insurance benefits, and monthly allowances to 3.8 million VND/month for certain cases with low benefit levels after the general increase.
