Nghe An: Highlights of February 18th
(Baonghean.vn) - Today, February 18th, in Hanoi, many businesspeople from Nghe An province donated over 33 billion VND to the province for the construction of houses for the poor. Meanwhile, in Nghe An, the Party Committee of the Provincial Business Sector also organized an activity to call for donations to build 100 houses for the poor.
*On the morning of February 18th, in Hanoi, the Liaison Committee of the Nghe An Hometown Association in Hanoi, in coordination with the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Council, the Provincial People's Committee, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Nghe An province, and the General Corporation 36 of the Ministry of National Defense, organized an event.Meeting program for entrepreneurs from Nghe An province in Hanoi.To mobilize investment for the development of our hometown and support the construction of houses for the poor in the province.
Despite achieving many results in socio-economic development, the province is characterized by its large area, complex terrain with over 83% being mountainous and heavily fragmented, and frequent impacts from natural disasters, storms, and floods, resulting in many difficulties in the lives of a segment of the population.
To date, the province still has over 55,000 poor households and over 53,000 near-poor households; of which 15,300 households are facing difficulties with housing (including 9,200 households needing new construction and 6,100 households needing house repairs), and urgently need the joint efforts and assistance of the whole society.
Speaking at the program, on behalf of the provincial leadership, the Secretary of the Nghe An Provincial Party Committee, Thai Thanh Quy, earnestly called on the people of Nghe An province, businesspeople in Hanoi, especially those who are natives of Nghe An and live in Hanoi, to wholeheartedly support and help the poor have sturdy, warm homes to "settle down and prosper," giving them more motivation to rise out of poverty and build a better life; contributing their efforts and money to help the province complete its social welfare program and achieve the goal of building 9,200 new houses and repairing 6,100 houses by 2025.
"The province is committed to accompanying, sharing, supporting, and assisting businesses, including those owned by people from Nghe An residing in Hanoi, to research and invest in the province," affirmed Provincial Party Secretary Thai Thanh Quy.
As of noon on February 18th, the fundraising program to support the construction of houses for the poor and disadvantaged has received 33.3 billion VND in donations from Nghe An businesspeople in Hanoi, far exceeding the registered target of 10 billion VND.

Regarding this issue, the People's Committee of Nghe An province has just issued a plan to strengthen state management of mineral resources in the province. Accordingly, the Provincial People's Committee requires departments, agencies, units, and localities to clearly define their leading and coordinating responsibilities in state management of mineral resources, as a basis for implementing assigned tasks synchronously, promptly, and effectively. Furthermore, it aims to strengthen state management of mineral resources, ensure rational and economical exploitation and use of mineral resources, meet the requirements of sustainable development, increase economic efficiency, and generate revenue for the state budget…

This is an annual event organized by Tuoi Tre newspaper in collaboration with the Department of Higher Education (Ministry of Education and Training), the General Department of Vocational Education (Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs), the Department of Education and Training, the Nghe An Provincial Youth Union, and Vinh University.
The program attracted thousands of students from high schools in Vinh City and many other schools in the surrounding areas of Nghe An and Ha Tinh provinces.

*The Vinh City Police recently raided the 37-09D Vehicle Inspection Center, arresting one Deputy Director and two inspectors for bribery, and seizing numerous related documents and evidence.
Accordingly, the police arrested three individuals for the crime of "Giving and receiving bribes" as stipulated in Article 354 of the Penal Code, including: Nguyen Tien Hoa (born in 1983), residing in Xuan Duc hamlet, Nghi Duc commune, Vinh city, Deputy Director of the Vehicle Inspection Center and Head of the inspection line; Nguyen Ngoc Thach (born in 1991), residing in Hamlet 1, Quynh Hung commune, Quynh Luu district, an inspector; and Cao Xuan Dat (born in 1988), residing in Hamlet 3, Dien An commune, Dien Chau district, an inspector.
