*On the morning of March 18th, in Hanoi,The Vietnam Association of Elderly People organized a nationwide online conference.To thoroughly understand the Resolution of the 6th Conference of the Central Committee of the 13th Party Congress and to introduce some topics on the elderly in 2023 to key officials of the elderly associations nationwide.
Speaking at the conference, Comrade Truong Thi Mai - Member of the Political Bureau, Standing Secretary of the Central Committee, and Head of the Central Organization Department - emphasized that it is necessary to recognize the elderly, the aging population group, as having an important role and contribution to the socio-economic development of the country, and as a support for younger generations, instead of viewing them merely as recipients of social welfare benefits.
The comrade suggested that the Central Committee of the Association and the associations of the elderly at all levels continue to promote the "Elderly - Shining Examples" movement, build upon achievements, and continue to contribute to the development of the country and localities; continue to advise the Party, State, and National Assembly on appropriate policies to care for the elderly, especially in the current period of rapidly increasing population aging. The elderly need to enjoy their old age with respect and security; to live healthy and happy lives.

*Implementing Resolution No. 29-NQ/TW dated November 17, 2022, of the 13th Party Congress onContinue to promote industrialization and modernization of the country.With a vision extending to 2030 and a long-term goal to 2045, the Party Committee of the People's Committee of Nghe An province has submitted a proposal for the issuance of a specific action program to concretize the above tasks.
According to Report No. 112-TTr/BCSĐ dated March 14, 2023, Nghe An aims for an average annual growth rate of 11-11.5% in gross regional product (GRDP) by 2030. The GRDP structure will be: agriculture, forestry, and fisheries accounting for 13.5-14%; industry and construction accounting for 42-42.5%; and services accounting for approximately 38.8%. The target for GRDP per capita in 2030 is to exceed the national average, reaching approximately US$8,000 (current prices). The proportion of agricultural labor in the total workforce is targeted to be below 30%, while labor in the industrial and service sectors will account for over 70%; and the digital economy will contribute 30% of GRDP. By 2030, 100% of operating industrial parks and clusters will have centralized wastewater treatment systems meeting environmental standards, with an average occupancy rate of 65-70% of the area…
The Party Committee of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized the need to concretize and fully implement the viewpoints, objectives, targets, tasks, and solutions; closely adhere to the guiding principles, major orientations, and key tasks in the Resolution; and organize implementation to achieve the goal of industrialization and modernization, making Nghe An basically an industrial province by 2030.

*In another development related to the province's socio-economic orientation, specifically the development of the tourism industry, Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong, in an interview with a reporter from Nghe An Newspaper, stated that the Provincial Party Standing Committee has reached a consensus.Directions and tasks for tourism development in Nghe AnThe 2021-2025 period includes the development of unique tourism products. The plan involves gradually restructuring tourism products towards focused and targeted development, improving quality based on the creation of distinctive products bearing the Nghe An tourism brand.
Currently, the Prime Minister has approved the Plan for the preservation, restoration, and promotion of the value of the special national historical site of the President Ho Chi Minh Memorial Area in Kim Lien commune (Nam Dan district). Based on this, the Kim Lien Historical Site will be gradually developed into a unique product bearing the Nghe An tourism brand.

*The "Volunteer Day to Support Citizens in Implementing Online Public Services and Digital Transformation Activities in 2023" is one of five key activities during Youth Month and is linked to the theme of "Year of Digital Transformation in Youth Union Activities". This activity aims to promote the role of Nghe An youth in accompanying the Party Committee, government, and people in implementing the national digital transformation program until 2025, with a vision to 2030.
In Vinh City, from early morning on March 18th, volunteer youth union members, under the direction of the Vinh City Youth Union, were present in many key business areas and markets throughout the city toAssisting people in registering for online payment accounts.This activity is strongly implemented during Youth Month and expanded in scale on peak days.
Thirty-five youth union branches with 500 volunteer youth teams will participate in supporting digital transformation activities for 25,000 people during the 2023 Volunteer Day to support citizens in accessing online public services and digital transformation activities.

*In Luong Minh commune, Tuong Duong district, there are two emergency resettlement projects for people affected by landslides, but after five years, both remain unfinished. One project cost over 11 billion VND, but only six households still need to move in, as the others have found land on their own while waiting!
This is a persistent and sad story in resettlement areas for people affected by landslides.

*Information from Dien Bich commune, Dien Chau district: an incident has just occurred in the area.A fishing boat sank at sea.
On the morning of March 18th, Dien Bich commune received news that the fishing vessel with registration number NA - 90582 - TS, with a capacity of 260CV, owned by Mr. Nguyen Van Dinh (residing in Dien Bich commune), had sunk while fishing in offshore waters.
By noon on March 18th, rescue forces from fishing boats belonging to the local fisheries cooperative (Fishermen's Union) and the Dien Thanh Border Guard had rescued and brought the crew members of the distressed fishing vessel safely ashore.
