Nghe An: Highlights on March 18

*Morning of March 18, in Hanoi,Vietnam Association of the Elderly held a national online conference, thoroughly grasp the Resolution of the 6th Conference, the 13th Party Central Committee and introduce a number of topics on the elderly in 2023 to key officials of the elderly association nationwide.

Speaking at the conference, Comrade Truong Thi Mai - Politburo member, Standing member of the Secretariat, Head of the Central Organization Committee emphasized that it is necessary to recognize the elderly, the aging population group, as having an important role and contribution to the socio-economic development of the country, as a support for the younger generations, instead of seeing them as just beneficiaries of social benefits.

He suggested that the Central Committee and the Elderly Associations at all levels continue to promote the movement “Old Age - Bright Example”, promote the achievements, continue to contribute to the development of the country and the locality; continue to advise the Party, State, and National Assembly on appropriate policies to care for the elderly, especially in the current period of rapidly increasing population aging. The elderly need to enjoy their old age with respect and security; to live healthy and happy lives.

*Pursuant to Resolution No. 29-NQ/TW dated November 17, 2022, Session XIII oncontinue to promote industrialization and modernization of the countryBy 2030 and with a vision to 2045, the Party Executive Committee of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee has just submitted a document on promulgating an action program to specify the above tasks.

According to Submission No. 112-TTr/BCSĐ dated March 14, 2023, Nghe An aims to achieve an average GDP growth rate of 11-11.5% per year by 2030. GRDP structure: Agriculture, forestry and fishery account for 13.5-14%; construction industry accounts for 42-42.5%; services account for about 38.8%; GRDP per capita in 2030 strives to be higher than the national average at about 8,000 USD (current price); the proportion of agricultural workers in the total social workforce strives to be below 30%, workers in the industrial and service sectors account for over 70%; digital economy accounts for 30% of GRDP. By 2030, 100% of operating industrial parks and industrial clusters will have centralized wastewater treatment systems that meet environmental standards, with an average occupancy rate of 65-70% of the area...

The Party Executive Committee of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized that it is necessary to concretize and fully implement the viewpoints, goals, targets, tasks and implementation solutions; closely follow the guiding viewpoints, major orientations and key tasks in the Resolution; organize implementation to complete the goal of industrialization and modernization, making Nghe An basically an industrial province by 2030.

*In another development related to the province's socio-economic orientation, specifically the development of the tourism industry, Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong in an interview with Nghe An Newspaper reporter said that the Provincial Party Standing Committee has agreedDirections and tasks for tourism development in Nghe An2021-2025 period, including the content of building unique tourism products. Currently, the Prime Minister has approved the Plan for conservation, restoration and promotion of the value of the special National Monument of President Ho Chi Minh Memorial Site in Kim Lien Commune (Nam Dan). On that basis, the Kim Lien Monument Site will be gradually built into a unique product bearing the Nghe An tourism brand.

*The peak day of "Volunteering to support people in implementing online public services and digital transformation activities in 2023" is one of the five peak activities in Youth Month and is associated with the theme of "Year of digital transformation of Union activities". This activity aims to promote the role of Nghe An youth in accompanying the Party Committee, government and people in implementing the national digital transformation program until 2025, with a vision to 2030.

In Vinh City, from early morning on March 18, the force of union members and youth volunteers under the direction of Vinh City Youth Union was present at many key business areas and markets in the city toSupport people to register for online payment accountsThis activity is strongly implemented during Youth Month and is expanded on a large scale on peak days.

There will be 35 youth union organizations with 500 youth volunteer teams participating in supporting digital transformation activities for 25,000 people on the Peak Volunteer Day to support people in performing online public services and digital transformation activities in 2023.

*In Luong Minh commune, Tuong Duong district, there are 2 emergency resettlement projects for people affected by landslides, but after 5 years, both have not been completed. One project cost more than 11 billion VND, but only 6 households are still in need of housing, because the others have gone to find land themselves during the waiting period!

This is a persistent sad story in resettlement areas for people in landslide areas.

*Information from Dien Bich commune, Dien Chau district: an incident just occurred in the area.fishing boat sinking at sea

On the morning of March 18, Dien Bich commune received news that a fishing boat with license plate NA - 90582 - TS, capacity 260CV owned by Mr. Nguyen Van Dinh (residing in Dien Bich commune) had an accident while exploiting offshore aquatic products.

By noon on March 18, the rescue force of fishing boats belonging to the fishing team (Fisheries Union) of the commune and the Dien Thanh Border Guard had rescued and brought the members of the fishing boat in distress to shore safely.
