Nghe An: Highlights of October 5th
(Baonghean.vn) - Following the extremely serious traffic accident that killed 5 people on the night of October 4th at the Giang River suspension bridge in Thanh Chuong district, many agencies and departments were present at the scene on the morning of October 5th to investigate the cause of the incident. This is also a news event that has attracted the attention of the public nationwide today.

According to observations by Nghe An Newspaper at the Giang River suspension bridge, at the point of collision between a 7-seater car with license plate 30A - 93.553 and a motorbike with license plate 72G1-135.79, which resulted in the deaths of all 5 people on both vehicles, the bridge railing was deformed and there were still many bloodstains on the bridge surface.
The Giang River suspension bridge, also known as the Cho Chua suspension bridge, is located at kilometer marker 105+970 on National Highway 46C and was built and put into use in 1987. The Giang River suspension bridge connects the two communes of Thanh Lien and Phong Thinh (Thanh Chuong district).

*TOn the morning of October 5th, a delegation from the National Traffic Safety Committee, led by Mr. Khuat Viet Hung - Vice Chairman in charge of the National Traffic Safety Committee, arrived.visiting and encouragingThe families of the victims. Also participating in the working group from Nghe An province were Comrade Le Hong Vinh - Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, and Permanent Deputy Head of the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee of Nghe An.
At the victims' homes, the delegation visited and shared in the grief of the families who had lost loved ones in this accident; they encouraged and hoped that the families would overcome their pain and immediate difficulties to continue to stabilize their lives.
The delegation visited the scene of the traffic accident to inspect it, direct the investigation into the cause, address the problem, repair the suspension bridge, and ensure that traffic flow for local residents can return to normal as soon as possible.

*TIn another development, on the afternoon of October 5th, a delegation from the Ministry of Transport, led by Mr. Khuat Viet Hung - Vice Chairman in charge of the National Traffic Safety Committee, held a working meeting with the People's Committee of Thanh Chuong district regarding the tragic accident.Giang River suspension bridgenight of October 4th.
Along with reporting on the aftermath and investigation into the cause of the accident, during the meeting, many opinions agreed that the Giang River suspension bridge, having been in use for over 30 years (since 1987), had seriously deteriorated despite numerous maintenance and repairs. Currently, with the increasing demand for transportation and goods delivery, relevant authorities should consider constructing a permanent bridge to replace the old one, ensuring safety for people and vehicles and serving the socio-economic development of the locality.
Deputy Chairman of the National Traffic Safety Committee, Khuất Việt Hùng, agreed with the proposal that, in the long term, a permanent bridge should be built to replace the Giang River suspension bridge to ensure the safety of people living in the area.

*DAnother notable event taking place on October 5th in the area was the meeting between National Assembly representatives and voters in the districts.Que Phong,Quy Chau, Quynh Luu andHoang Mai town.
During the meetings, voters in various localities raised many issues with their National Assembly representatives. Voters in Que Phong district requested policies and programs to invest in technical infrastructure for some remote and disadvantaged areas, especially the construction of bridges over streams and ravines, and improved transportation routes.
Voters in Quynh Luu district and Hoang Mai town have reported that farmers are abandoning their fields and showing little interest in agricultural production. This reality highlights the need for the government to reform its policies regarding the agricultural sector, especially those concerning land consolidation and attracting investment in agriculture.
Local voters also raised many issues regarding land clearance for projects, especially the North-South expressway project; and benefits for war veterans and families of policy beneficiaries. In particular, fishermen in Hoang Mai town reflected on the risk of their boats being foreclosed by banks due to outstanding debts for shipbuilding under Government Decree 67 (now Decree 17)…

As expected, the cutoff scores for Vinh Medical University are 2-3 points higher than in previous years. Specifically, for the General Medicine program, the cutoff score was 22.4 points last year, but it has increased to 25.4 points this year.
