Organic agricultural productionis the foundation for ensuring health, protecting the environment, sustainable development, and is an inevitable development trend. The Government has issued Decree No. 109/2018/ND-CP on organic agriculture, and the Prime Minister has also approved the Project on organic agriculture development for the period 2020-2030.

Nghe An has a large agricultural land area, diverse products, and potential for organic agricultural development; currently, TH Group and a number of enterprises, organizations, and individuals have invested in developing effective organic agricultural production in the area. However, products with the potential to develop organic production are still scattered and small-scale. The soil and water environment need to be treated, and the cost is high. The cost is high, the design is not beautiful, and the productivity is lower than conventional production; product differentiation is not managed and difficult to distinguish. Pursuant to Decision No. 69/QD-UBND dated January 13, 2021 of the People's Committee of Nghe An province on promulgating the plan to implement the action program to implement the Resolution of the 19th Provincial Party Committee, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development was assigned by the Provincial People's Committee to develop a project on Organic Agriculture Development in the province for the period 2022-2030.

The draft project has been sent to relevant ministries, 21 districts, cities and towns for comments. Based on the comments of the departments, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has accepted and completed the project.

Accordingly, there are 7 key products to be implemented including: rice, fruits (oranges, grapefruits, pineapples); raw materials for processing (tea, sugarcane); meat (pork, poultry); fresh cow's milk, wood and wood products; shrimp, fish. Selection basis: prioritize key agricultural products, agricultural products with local advantages; at the same time ensure economic - social and environmental efficiency. Prioritize traditional, indigenous products with specialty value, products that have met VietGAP, GlobalGAP, OCOP quality standards...

At the meeting, delegates said that the project is necessary to contribute to restructuring the agricultural sector and building new rural areas. However, we should not support prices, but should support trade promotion to create healthy competition for products. Delegates also said that organic production is currently facing difficulties due to changes in farming thinking; selection and improvement of organic production areas, and the impact of climate change. In particular, the problem of output, control, and management of product quality is difficult, and product prices are high.

Concluding remarks at the meeting, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee,Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Hoang Nghia Hieu emphasized that the project is consistent with the agricultural development orientation according to the Resolution of the 19th Nghe An Provincial Party Congress and priority policies. Developing clean, environmentally friendly production is the current trend. The project needs to add groups of medicinal products and non-timber forest products; review the indicators to approach the national average...
