On the morning of May 8th, the Propaganda Department of the Provincial Party Committee, in coordination with the Department of Information and Communications and the Nghe An Provincial Journalists Association, organized the monthly press briefing for May 2023.

Attending the press conference were Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Huong - Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial Propaganda Department; along with leaders of the Provincial Propaganda Department, the Provincial Internal Affairs Department, the Department of Information and Communications, the Department of Culture and Sports, the Nghe An Provincial Journalists Association; leaders and reporters of local press agencies and resident representatives in Nghe An province.

Many new activities at the 2023 Lotus Village Festival

At the press conference, Ms. Tran Thi My Hanh, Director of the Department of Culture and Sports, provided information on the plan to organize the Lang Sen Festival in 2023. The Lang Sen Festival in 2023 is associated with the art program "The Mother of Lang Sen" to commemorate the 155th anniversary of the birth of Ms. Hoang Thi Loan and the 133rd anniversary of the birth of President Ho Chi Minh.

To date, the Lotus Village Festival has a tradition of 42 years of organization, having developed and upgraded from the Lotus Village Singing Festival. The Lotus Village Festival is held annually on a provincial scale and every five years on a national scale.

This is a significant political and cultural activity, expressing the gratitude and respect of the people towards President Ho Chi Minh - the national liberation hero and world cultural figure; propagating and educating about Ho Chi Minh's ideology; continuing to promote the study and emulation of Ho Chi Minh's thought, morality, and style; and introducing and promoting the culture of Lang Sen village, Nghe An province.

Strengthening the dissemination of the province's political tasks.

The May 2023 press briefing also included a review of press work in April 2023, highlighting many outstanding achievements.

Throughout the month, press agencies strictly adhered to the directives and guidance of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department and the state management of the Department of Information and Communications; at the same time, they closely followed the province's political tasks to widely disseminate information.

Many media outlets have published high-quality articles, features, reports, and programs, and some have actively contributed to charity and social welfare.

Representatives from several media outlets continued to raise a number of issues of concern at the briefing conference, including the case where the People's Court of Hung Nguyen District sentenced Le Thi Dung, former Director of the Vocational Education and Continuing Education Center of Hung Nguyen District, to 5 years in prison for the crime of "Abusing position and power while performing official duties"; the case of a female student from Vinh University's specialized high school who committed suicide due to suspected school violence; and the issue of some agencies, units, and localities not handling press information promptly, and not facilitating the provision of information to the press when requested...

Speaking at the conference, Comrade Pham Ngoc Canh - Deputy Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department - discussed several issues of recent interest to the press and public opinion; and emphasized some areas that media agencies need to focus on promoting in May 2023.

Most importantly, the focus is on publicizing the results of the implementation of programs, plans, and projects during the first half of the term of the Party congresses at all levels for the 2020-2025 term; and the implementation of the socio-economic development program for ethnic minority and mountainous areas. This includes publicizing the content of the Resolution on the Planning of Nghe An Province for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050; prominently publicizing activities commemorating the 133rd anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birth; and the successful organization of the entrance exams for grade 10 and the high school graduation exams...

In addition, it is necessary to strengthen information and communication activities to promote the potential and advantages; promote cultural heritage, scenic spots, culinary culture, and practical experiences to attract domestic and international tourists to visit tourist destinations in the province during the summer, creating momentum for tourism development.

Strengthen the dissemination of information and management of school security and safety, especially the prevention of school violence; raise awareness and prevent accidents, injuries, and drowning among children, especially during the summer.

In parallel with the above content, the press also needs to publicize the province's key tasks and solutions related to budget revenue collection, disbursement of public investment capital; resolving difficulties and obstacles in production and business activities, attracting investment; and promptly handling emerging issues…
