Nghe An awarded a Certificate of Merit to Prudential for its activities supporting children.
(Baonghean.vn) - In recognition of the outstanding achievements in supporting disadvantaged and disabled children in Nghe An province in 2017, on behalf of the provincial leaders, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Dinh Viet Hong presented a Certificate of Merit to Prudential.
This activity took place within the framework of the 11th APEC Senior Officials Meeting on Disaster Management - a sideline activity of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Forum in Vinh City, Nghe An.

On this occasion, Prudential Vietnam donated more than 1 billion VND to people and students in provinces that have just suffered from natural disasters, including Nghe An.
This is an activity within the project "Support for prevention and mitigation of natural disaster risks" implemented by Prudential Vietnam in coordination with the General Department of Natural Disaster Prevention (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development) and the Central Region Natural Disaster Prevention Support Fund.
Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Hoang Van Thang acknowledged the success of the above cooperation project, assessing this as a good start for public-private cooperation in the field of disaster risk management.
“We hope that Prudential will continue with more practical and effective activities in the coming time, and also hope that many private sector companies in Vietnam will join these programs, helping the Vietnamese government gradually strengthen management and reduce natural disaster risks,” - Deputy Minister Hoang Van Thang emphasized.

Sharing about the gift giving activity under the project "Supporting prevention and mitigation of natural disaster risks", Mr. Steve Clark - General Director of Prudential Vietnam said: "Understanding the severity of natural disasters in Vietnam and the difficult circumstances of people, especially children in many provinces in the North and Central of Vietnam, the unit wants to join hands with the governmentAll levels and disaster prevention units share the difficulties and losses of the people, and at the same time provide practical support to help children and families here overcome the damage caused by natural disasters.

At the ceremony, Prudential Vietnam donated 17 automatic rain gauges to Ha Giang and Yen Bai provinces worth nearly VND700 million; and donated 50 tmillion VND for families in difficult circumstances in Ha Tinh province and 50 million VND for students in Nghe An province. The total amount of money that Prudential supports the Central and Northern mountainous provinces in this period is more than 1 billion VND.

The project “Reducing Natural Disaster Risks” with a total value of about 6 billion VND in the period of 2015 - 2017 has helped thousands of people in the provinces of Dien Bien, Yen Bai, Hai Phong, Nghe An, etc. to benefit directly through practical gifts and necessary items such as storm prevention maps, life jackets, first aid kits, notebooks, life jackets for students, etc. In each province, Prudential Vietnam also installed automatic rain gauges to help local authorities improve flood forecasting. |
