Nghe An province has planted 1,676 hectares of coastal forest.

According to a report by the People's Committee of Nghe An province, during the period 2015-2020, Nghe An province had three forest protection and development projects: the Forest Protection and Development Project of the Quynh Luu Protective Forest Management Board; the Forest Protection and Development Project of the Nghi Loc Protective Forest Management Board; and the Forest Protection and Development Project of the Dien Chau Forest Ranger Station.

Units and localities have implemented and integrated state budget funds through annual forest protection and development plans.

Accordingly, from 2015 to 2018, the entire province planted 1,676 hectares of coastal forest, with an estimated 167 hectares planted in 2018 alone; 73.0 hectares were cared for and 7,427.08 hectares of coastal forest were protected.

Despite the achievements, the implementation of the Project on Protecting and Developing Coastal Forests to Respond to Climate Change in the province still faces some challenges and difficulties. Specifically, the forest protection activities of the Project are only carried out in conjunction with forest protection activities of state-funded projects, resulting in insufficient funding, especially for mangrove reforestation.

To continue effectively implementing coastal forest protection and development activities, Nghe An province is requesting the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to allocate funds from climate change mitigation sources for forest protection and development; and to increase investment quotas for mangrove and coastal reforestation activities in accordance with reality.
