Nghe An province estimates damage at 846 billion VND due to Typhoon No. 5.
According to a preliminary report from the People's Committee of Nghe An province, Typhoon No. 5 has caused significant damage in many areas.
Typhoon No. 5The storm caused widespread heavy rain, with rainfall amounts generally ranging from 120 to 350mm, and in some places reaching up to 473.4mm. Strong winds of force 8-10, gusting to force 11-15, were recorded at many meteorological stations. This morning (August 26), the storm moved into central Laos and weakened into a tropical depression.

Across the province, 2,189 houses were affected, including 1,622 with damaged roofs, 462 flooded, and 105 requiring urgent relocation.

The agricultural sector suffered heavy losses, with 13,361.5 hectares of rice and over 2,000 hectares of other crops affected, nearly 420 hectares of traditional fish farming areas damaged, along with 155 head of livestock and 250 head of poultry swept away.

Regarding transportation and power infrastructure, over 2,000 meters of roads were damaged or affected by landslides, and 42 road sections were blocked with a total landslide volume of 5,050 cubic meters.3In addition, 678 utility poles were knocked down or broken, and 11,200 meters of power lines were severed.
The report states that the estimated total damage caused by Typhoon No. 5 in Nghe An is approximately 846 billion VND.
Given the situation, the People's Committee of Nghe An province has requested the central government to provide the first tranche of 250 billion VND to urgently address the consequences, stabilize people's lives, and quickly restore production.

Response and recovery efforts are being implemented decisively by all levels and sectors in the province, following the directives of the Prime Minister, the Provincial Party Committee, and the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.
