Earlier, on the morning of May 15th, as usual, Ms. Hoang Thi Thu (residing in Yen Son commune) let her family's herd of 17 goats graze near the farm. The goats then went to graze in the area of the nearby Van Son commune cemetery. However, only about half an hour later, Ms. Thu was horrified to see 9 of her goats suddenly drop dead.
According to the family, these nine goats are worth nearly 50 million VND. Two days prior, two of Mrs. Thu's goats that had entered the area to graze also died unexpectedly.
This cemetery is managed by the People's Committee of Van Son commune, and one resident has been using the land on both sides of the road to plant acacia trees. According to Ms. Thu, the acacia trees were newly planted, so her family had no intention of letting their goats into the cemetery, but some of them crawled through the fence to forage and died unexpectedly.
