In the first three months of the year, the Provincial People's Committee allocated capital plans to various sectors and localities and decisively directed the acceleration of construction progress and disbursement of public investment capital from the very beginning of 2023. As of March 20th, the province's centrally managed public investment capital had disbursed over 282 billion VND, reaching 5.06%.

The Industrial Production Index (IIP) for the first three months of the year is estimated to have increased by 5.81% compared to the same period last year. Specifically, the mining sector is estimated to have increased by 25.74%; the manufacturing sector by 8.86%; the electricity, gas, hot water, steam and air conditioning production and distribution sector by 21.67%; the manufacturing sector by 3.45%; while water supply, waste management and wastewater treatment activities decreased by 1.25% compared to the same period last year.

Some key industrial products in the first quarter are estimated to have achieved significant growth compared to the same period last year, such as: Beer of all types (33.92 million liters, up 11.21%), cement (2.7 million tons, up 12.42%), processed milk (85.7 million liters, up 6.32%), electricity production (897 million kWh, up 30.76%), Hoa Sen steel sheets of all types (369 thousand tons, up 7.79%)...

Revenue from accommodation and food services in the first quarter is estimated at VND 2,657 billion, an increase of 28.57% compared to the same period in 2022. Total merchandise exports for the first three months are estimated at USD 520 million, while imports are estimated at over USD 274 million.

The number of tourists is estimated at 1.9 million, equivalent to 181% compared to the same period; revenue is estimated at 1,460 billion VND, equivalent to 306.7% compared to the same period in 2022.

Budget revenue in the first quarter is estimated at 4,467 billion VND, reaching 28.2% of the projected target; of which, domestic revenue is estimated at 4,258 billion VND; revenue from import and export activities is estimated at 209 billion VND.

In particular, Nghe An province continued to achieve many positive results in attracting investment. The province granted licenses to 30 new projects with a total registered investment capital of over 4,937 billion VND. The total newly granted and adjusted capital amounted to over 5,435 billion VND.

Recently, the Foreign Investment Agency of the Ministry of Planning and Investment announced figures showing that in the first quarter of 2023, Nghe An attracted 2 foreign direct investment projects with a total registered capital of 164.95 million USD, ranking 10th nationwide and first among the 14 provinces and cities in the North Central and Central Coastal regions.

To date, Nghe An province has 132 active FDI projects, with a total registered investment capital of over 2.737 billion USD.

In 2023, Nghe An province set a growth target of 9-10%. The Provincial People's Committee issued Decision No. 162/QD-UBND dated January 18, 2023, on the main tasks and solutions for socio-economic development and the state budget estimate for 2023, including 6 key areas of direction and management, 12 groups of main tasks and solutions, and 160 specific tasks assigned to departments and agencies.

At the same time, the Provincial People's Committee has developed growth scenarios for 2023 for each quarter and the whole year; established 5 working groups to direct and promote various sectors and fields; and implemented the assignment of 2023 plan targets to sectors and levels right from the beginning of the year for implementation.
