Nghe An: Successfully building a model of linking winter potato production
On the morning of March 5, in Hung Son commune, Anh Son district, the Center for Application of Science and Technology Advances, Nghe An Department of Science and Technology organized a field workshop "Evaluating the effectiveness of the winter potato production linkage model in Hung Son commune, Anh Son district".
In Nghe An, before 2010, on average, the whole province planted 60,000 - 62,000 hectares of winter crops of all kinds each year. However, since 2010, Nghe An's winter crop production has only been more than half of what it was before.

Faced with the above situation, in order to contribute to the transformation of crop structure, increase the value of winter crop production, and at the same time, build a chain of linkages in production activities, in 2019, Nghe An Provincial People's Committee and the Department of Science and Technology assigned the Nghe An Center for Application of Science and Technology Advances to implement the Project: "Building a model of linkage to develop potato production associated with consumption from disease-free potato seed sources using aeroponic technology in Nghe An".
The project has successfully built a potato production model with an average yield of 18-20 tons/ha, and the income value after deducting costs is from 50-60 million VND/ha. Along with building the model, the project has built a close and synchronous chain of links between 4 parties: the State, scientists, businesses and people, in which the roles and responsibilities of the parties are clearly and specifically defined.

In addition, in order to apply technical advances in the production of disease-free seeds, diversify and proactively source seeds, reduce costs, increase productivity and economic efficiency from potato production. In 2022, the Department of Science and Technology of Nghe An assigned the Center for Application of Scientific and Technological Advances of Nghe An to carry out the task of "Researching, testing, evaluating the yield and quality of some certified potato varieties and the method of covering plastic beds in commercial potato production suitable for winter crop production conditions in Nghe An province".
The mission has successfully built a commercial potato production model applying the method of covering the beds with plastic to achieve 10 - 15% higher productivity.

Although a potato production chain has been established and built in Nghe An province, due to many different factors, especially the Covid-19 pandemic, the winter potato growing area in Nghe An province has decreased significantly.

In order to develop potatoes sustainably, Nghe An Center for Application of Science and Technology Advances is implementing the scientific and technological task "Applying the technique of covering beds with plastic in building a model of linking commercial potato production in the winter crop in Anh Son district".

The model was deployed in the Troc Bau - Bai Mo area in Quang Tien hamlet, Hung Son commune, Anh Son district with a scale of 3.2 hectares according to the production chain with the participation of the State, scientists, businesses and people.
After the implementation process, a successful model of potato production linkage using nylon bed covering technique was built in Hung Son commune, Anh Son district with a scale of 3.2 ha. The model yielded 25.93 tons/ha, the standard yield reached 22.741 tons/ha, the efficiency reached nearly 67 million VND/ha, the actual efficiency of the producers reached nearly 89 million VND/ha.
At the workshop, based on the assessment of the economic efficiency of the model, cooperation methods, investment methods, production management to maintain, replicate and develop the winter potato production model according to the chain, increase production value, contribute to the transformation of crop structure in Anh Son district.
