Nghe An province fined over 1.1 billion VND for food safety violations during the 2026 Food Safety Action Month.
During the 2026 Food Safety Action Month, Nghe An province vigorously implemented inspection, monitoring, and communication activities to ensure the health of its people.

The entire province has established 134 inter-agency and specialized inspection teams from the provincial to the commune level. According to reports from the inspection teams, out of a total of 1,545 establishments inspected, 1,220 met the standards (accounting for 89.2%).
Authorities have discovered and imposed administrative penalties on 325 establishments for violations, with total fines amounting to 1,134,000,000 VND. Notably, two cases have resulted in criminal prosecution related to serious food safety violations.
The provincial police force alone conducted inspections in 147 cases (including 15 organizations and 132 individuals). As a result, administrative fines totaling 702.5 million VND were imposed; and infringing goods worth over 360.6 million VND were confiscated and destroyed.
The main violations recorded included:
The production and business facility lacks a food safety certificate; hygiene conditions are not ensured: cracked floors, clogged drains, insect infestation in the processing area; food preservation procedures are not in accordance with regulations: lack of shelving, no signage or regulations; fresh and processed foods are mixed; food samples are not retained as required; goods are sold past their expiration date, without clear origin, or with incorrect labeling.
During this period, the province recorded one food poisoning incident affecting 64 people, fortunately with no fatalities. Compared to the same period in 2025 (when no food poisoning incidents were recorded), the food safety situation this year is more complex.
Alongside the inspections, diverse propaganda activities were carried out: The entire province organized 13 training sessions/workshops for more than 2,400 participants; conducted over 1,100 radio broadcasts at the grassroots level; displayed nearly 2,000 banners and distributed 3,500 leaflets.
Despite achieving positive results in timely guidance and handling of violations, food safety management in Nghe An still faces some difficulties due to the fragmented management system and the increase of sophisticated online food business models on social media.
In the coming period, the province will continue to strengthen unannounced inspections and publicly disclose organizations and individuals that violate regulations so that people can proactively choose safe food.
