(Baonghean.vn) - The craft of weaving handicrafts for export in Phuc Thanh commune (Yen Thanh) is helping local people increase their income and contribute to job creation.
Previously, women in Phuc Thanh only knew about agricultural work, but now the craft of weaving handicrafts for export has raised their income from 2 to 4 million VND/person/month. |
The weaving profession is most concentrated in the craft village of Hamlet 4 (Phuc Thanh Commune). Ms. Phan Thi Hai (in floral shirt) shared: "I have known about weaving for a long time, but weaving has provided a stable income for nearly ten years now. The income is better than before because we do not have to worry about output. Duc Phong Company takes care of raw materials and consumes products for people, whoever does a lot has a high income." |
Although weaving is light work, it requires skillful and meticulous hands. |
Taking advantage of the free time, men also help the women in the family split bamboo. |
If one spends time focusing on weaving, one can weave 2 to 4 baskets a day. |
For families with many people participating in weaving, the income will be from 5 to 7 million/month. |
The finished product must be beautiful and meet technical requirements. The craftsman must be skillful to evenly bend the bottom of the basket. If you are not skillful enough, the finished product will be bent or warped, which will cause difficulties when shipping. |
After the products are completed, these lovely bamboo baskets are strung together and await delivery. On average, there are 2 to 3 trucks arriving each month to import goods. |
Phuc Thanh's wicker products are extremely diverse, with many types of items serving daily life such as: baskets, trays, flower baskets... which are favored by customers for their quality and aesthetics. |
People here love and are devoted to this handicraft. Besides maintaining traditional products, they also have a stable source of income. |
