On the afternoon of December 8th, artist Thuong Tin passed away at his home in Phan Rang, at the age of 68. His passing came after a long period of battling various health problems. Currently, his family is holding a funeral for him in his hometown.
According to musician Tô Hiếu, a close friend, there was a special detail before the late artist was laid to rest. The musician recounted that since his death, artist Thương Tín has not closed his eyes. Many family members, including his son, have tried to close them but without success.

Later, the family called Kim Chi, his fourth wife, to bring their daughter home to see her father one last time. Only when all the children were present and together they closed his eyes did the late artist peacefully pass away.
His final years were full of events.
Artist Thuong Tin's health has seriously deteriorated since suffering a stroke in early 2021. He has had to take on many jobs to make a living, from delivering goods to singing at events. In 2024, he suffered a second stroke but fortunately recovered. His life during this period mainly depended on support from colleagues and philanthropists.

In March 2024, he returned to his hometown to recuperate. In October 2024, an accident caused him to break a bone and develop muscle atrophy, risking permanent disability due to a lack of timely treatment. For over a year, he lived in a room of approximately 8 square meters at a younger sibling's house in Binh Thuan. He and his fourth wife separated in July 2024. In his final days, he always wished to see his daughter, but this wish was not granted.

Funerals and the silver screen legacy
According to the obituary, the embalming ceremony for artist Thuong Tin took place at 8:00 AM on December 9th. The funeral procession will be held at 3:30 PM on December 10th. His son, Thanh Tung, and other relatives are present to handle the funeral arrangements.

Actor Thuong Tin is one of the most prominent figures in Vietnamese cinema of the 1980s and 1990s. Beginning his career at the age of 13, he made his mark with over 200 roles. He is remembered by audiences for classic roles such as Major Luu Trong Ky Vong in 'The Card Game', the bandit Bach Hai Duong in 'Hunting Thieves', and Sau Tam in 'Saigon Commando'. At his peak, he was a name that guaranteed the success of many film projects.
