Meritorious Artist An Ninh was awarded the title of People's Artist.
(Baonghean.vn) - The President of Vietnam has issued Decision No. 1431/QD-CTN awarding the State honorary title "People's Artist" to 42 artists nationwide in various fields of culture and art. Nghe An province is honored to have artist Nguyen An Ninh among them.
Meritorious Artist Nguyen An Ninh is a playwright, script adaptor, and opera actor who previously worked at the Traditional Arts Center of Nghe An province.
He is almost the sole script adaptor at the Provincial Traditional Arts Center for the past 20 years. All of the folk opera works from Nghe Tinh have been adapted from literary scripts into folk operas by People's Artist An Ninh. Many of these works have won Gold Medals at national professional folk opera festivals. Typical examples include:The words of the people, the words of the land, One tree alone cannot make a forest, Looking into the past, The race in the darkness, The crane in the storm, The case of the Buddha's shrine...In this capacity, People's Artist An Ninh won two "Outstanding Script Adaptation" awards for two plays:His words are the words of the nation.2008 andOne tree alone cannot make a forest.2010.
People's Artist An Ninh also wrote lyrics for the traditional melodies in most of the folk songs broadcast on television and in programs serving political events of the Provincial Traditional Arts Center.
Furthermore, he is a veteran actor with a unique singing voice and acting style, primarily playing leading roles as positive characters. Although he hasn't performed in many shows, during his acting career he has won three prestigious Gold Medals: a Gold Medal for the role of the teacher in the play "Teacher and Student" at the 2018 National Professional Folk Opera Festival; a Gold Medal for the character Mr. Trung in the play "The 13th Person" at the 2019 National Professional Folk Opera Festival; and a Gold Medal for the role of the Deputy Chief Inspector in the play "The Shining Light" at the 2022 National Professional Folk Opera Festival.
People's Artist is the highest title awarded by the State to individuals working in the field of culture and art.
Those awarded the title of People's Artist must have at least 20 years of continuous or cumulative professional artistic activity, or at least 15 years of continuous or cumulative professional artistic activity for circus and dance art forms.
This person must also have received at least two Gold awards or one Gold and two Silver awards at national, regional, or international art festivals and competitions, and central literary and artistic associations since being awarded the title of Meritorious Artist.
