Suspect in murder of 3 members of ex-wife's family arrested
Doan Minh Hai, 34 years old, suspect of murdering 3 people in his ex-wife's family, was arrested by the Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Public Security while hiding in Saigon.
On the evening of May 29, the Major Crimes Department of the Criminal Police Department (C02, Ministry of Public Security) announced that it had discovered and controlled Doan Minh Hai in District 12, Ho Chi Minh City. He appeared quite calm and complied with all requests. Currently, the suspect has been handed over to the Phu Yen Provincial Police for further investigation.

That same morning, Mrs. Tran Thi Hien, 85 years old, residing in Hoa Hiep Trung ward, Dong Hoa town, knocked on the door but did not see her son, Nguyen Cu, 60 years old, and his children answer. When the neighbors ran over to break the door, they discovered the bodies of Mr. Cu and his wife and their daughter, Duong, 28 years old, lying in a pool of blood. Ms. Duong's 3-year-old daughter was missing. The crime scene showed signs of a struggle, and many items in the house were disturbed.
Mr. Hien said that last night, he came home late from a funeral and found the house closed and the lights off. He called many times but couldn't get through, thinking everyone was out, so he slept on the porch. This morning, the old lady continued to call the door but couldn't get through.
Colonel Vo Duy Tuan, Deputy Director of Phu Yen Provincial Police, said that Ms. Duong's daughter was later found at her grandparents' house in the same neighborhood - about 500 meters away. Hai is the suspect in the incident.triple murderbut not locally present.

The area where the murder occurred is sparsely populated, hundreds of meters apart. People nearby said they did not hear any unusual noises from Mr. Cu's house last night. For several years now, Ms. Duong has divorced her husband, Doan Minh Hai, and has brought her daughter back to live with her parents. Recently, Hai has come to visit many times, arguing and fighting for custody of the child.
Mr. Cu’s family is in financial difficulty, and his two sons have to work for a living. He sells lottery tickets but recently suffered from a serious illness and had to stay at home, while his wife collects scrap metal.
