Suspect arrested for murdering three members of ex-wife's family.
Doan Minh Hai, 34, the suspect in the murder of three members of his ex-wife's family, was arrested by the Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Public Security while hiding in Saigon.
On the evening of May 29th, the Major Crimes Division of the Criminal Police Department (C02, Ministry of Public Security) announced that they had located and apprehended Doan Minh Hai in District 12, Ho Chi Minh City. He appeared quite calm and complied with all requests. Currently, the suspect has been handed over to the Phu Yen Provincial Police for further investigation.

On the morning of the same day, Mrs. Tran Thi Hien, 85 years old, residing in Hoa Hiep Trung ward, Dong Hoa town, knocked on the door but received no response from her son, Nguyen Cu, 60 years old, and his wife, along with their grandchildren. When neighbors rushed over and broke down the door, they discovered the bodies of Mr. Cu, his wife, and their daughter, Duong, 28 years old, lying in a pool of blood. Duong's 3-year-old daughter was missing. The crime scene showed signs of a struggle, and many household items were disturbed.
Ms. Hien said that last night, after returning late from a memorial service, she found the house closed and the lights off. She called out repeatedly but received no response, assuming everyone was out, so she slept on the porch. This morning, she continued to call but still received no answer.
Colonel Vo Duy Tuan, Deputy Director of the Phu Yen Provincial Police, said that Ms. Duong's daughter was later found at her paternal grandparents' house in the same neighborhood - about 500 meters away. Hai is the suspect in the case.Triple murderbut they were not present locally.

The area where the murder occurred is sparsely populated, with houses spaced hundreds of meters apart. Local residents said they didn't hear any unusual noises from Mr. Cu's house last night. For several years now, Ms. Duong has been divorced from her husband, Doan Minh Hai, and has been living with her parents with her daughter. Recently, Hai has repeatedly come to see her, arguing and fighting over custody of their child.
Mr. Cu's family is facing financial difficulties; his two sons have to work as laborers to make a living. He used to sell lottery tickets but recently contracted a serious illness and has to stay home, while his wife collects scrap metal.
